I've searched and seen quite a few similar threads so apologies for covering old ground. When under normal/light accelaration only, there is a slight high pitched squeal on gear change only. The performance and smoothness of the engine and gearbox appears un-affected. Ive checked the hoses for cracks and they are all ok. From what has previously been posted, it would seem to be a pulley or tensioner? Is this likely to be an expensive job to fix?

I had exactly this same problem on my auto box I even posted a video on here on the noise but could find no solution. I then discovered that the 3.0 (sorry not sure about yours) has the same auto box as one of the Jags. Jaguar admitted to it being an issue and issued a white paper indicating that the oil and filter needs replacing even though its classed as a sealed unit. GoogleJaguar gear box squwak.
I got the oil and filter changed about a year ago and since then no noise!!

Thanks for the reply, fingers crossed that's what it is, roughly what did it cost for the oil and filter change?

I went to a local autobox specialist and they charged me £250 using BMW approved oil. Its the fluid that costs the money!

Jeez, I was thinking it would be a cheap fix. At that price I may have to live with it. Assuming it's not actually doing any harm?!

I don't know where abouts you are dans but try Wimbledon Automatics in Wimbledon would you believe
They are fantastic when it comes to Autos
To change oil and filter in your car is £130
Ask for Derek and mention the forum
I've been using these guys for 30 years.
They are the best

Valvoline makes an Import ATF that is bmw approved. Its a full synthetic transmission fluid. I serviced mine last year myself, its not to bad of job. Car only has 32000 miles on it. Transmission pan said lifetime fluid, that's a bunch of crap as my fluid was ready for change. I bought an OEM BMW service kit off ebay for $70 and the fluid was $6.79 a quart, I bought 7 of those and used about all of it.

Live in Bewdley, near Kidderminster, Wimbledon is a bit far but heard good things about a BMW specialist (mentioned on here too) in Telford. Forgot the name but will ask them to quote. £130 sounds much better.
