As it seems to have become the norm, for my 2000th post I thought I'd look back on the 19 months since I joined z4-forum...
I originally joined intending to be a bit of a lurker, I was looking at buying an Alpina Roadster S and thought that I'd be able to pick up various tips and other bits of info regarding the E85 that would help with ongoing care and maintenance. I have joined other fora in the past and, in the main, found them to be a bit of a clique with a few people acting as though they owned the place and being quite hostile to newbies, but that certainly hasn't been the case here. I don't think you'll find a friendlier bunch of jokers anywhere else - to steal the line from markeg's sig, veni, vidi, velcro - I came, I saw, I stuck around....
Since I joined, I, and other people, have posted various pictures of my Alpina, and here are a few of my favourites
Unfortunately, Cindy and I have only managed to find time to attend one Z4-forum meet, the Nov '13 Kent & Sussex meet, but we had a great time and met some nice people....
...and pvr
...and Jonny Essex who, for some reason, spent the whole day pretending that he had a coupé...
and, contrary to Disca's comments, Ruby can drive quite quickly... even around corners
We'll make the effort to get to more meets this year - weather permitting, because I don't see the point in having a convertible and driving with the roof up.
This place is about more than cars though and I was grateful for the interest shown and encouragement received for my Shedzilla project and bathroom refurbishment
I also received lots of sympathy, and engendered a few laughs, when I came off a pushbike and did this
It's all better now and the concussion-induced Tourette's has almost completely f*ck*ng disappeared...
It's not all one-way however, I've tried to 'give back' with a write up on my installation of door speakers and sound deadening material
...and I've tried to help people out when they've had problems or need assistance...
for example, I spent ages helping Bing cure the irritating noise that kept coming from his passenger seat
Caz and Darren turned to me in desperation when they needed help marketing their new home video
I had to help out Machine Monkey and Jonny Essex with new boot badges
And there was this for people thinking of saving money by buying a Zed with recession-mode 'undercoat' rather than paying extra for the colour coat
at the end of the day, I'd like to say that you're a great bunch of people and I feel privileged to be part of the community...
Thanks to you all
If anyone needs me, I'll be in the shed...
