2 weeks and we get our Z4M Roadster

Hello all,
We've just purchased our first Z4M Roadster so this is our first post on this forum.

It’s 2006, interlagos blue with black leather and we are getting it from Westerly Exeter (hasn’t arrived there yet)

Hopefully that entitles us to ask a few silly questions!

As the car is in fantastic condition should we stop the garage cleaning it? The bodywork is currently ‘swirl free’.

It has a Tracker fitted so how do we re-assign it to us? We want to stay with out present insurance company who are insisting that a Tracker is fitted.

Is there anything you guys recommend to do / look for after receiving a Z4M.

Many thanks.

Lovely looking car, congrats and welcome!

Knowing most BMW dealerships if it doesn`t need cleaning they won`t! It`s going to be a very long 2 week wait for you. Nothing particular you should know, I expect you`ve poured over the service history, made sure it has the 1200 mile running in check?

One thing I will say is think about paint protection film on the front, rather prone to stone chipping if you use them as intended. Enjoy!

The BMW dealer should give you the information on the tracker to transfer ownership. If you plan on keeping the car for over three years it's worth getting the lifetime membership (if they still do it)

Best to wash yourself if you want to keep the paintwork looking good IMO.

lovely car, congratulations, not sure what cars you ahve had before but you will love the M. It will make you :D

As for what is best for an M - is drive it and drive it fast (within speed limits of course!).

Beautiful car!
Interlagos is fast becoming one of my favourite colours, really looks special in the sun

Welcome  I'd stop them from washing the car as they will use the same bucket and sponge for every car the lad washes :(

I have a few small stone chips at the front, with hindsight I'd have had the front paint-protected with film so you might consider that.

Rehsob, Welcome to the Forum. There's a check list in my signature for purchasing pre owned. Before you hand over your hard earned it's worth just going through it. Agree with others WASH IT YOURSELF!

AlanJ - thanks for info, checked most off except brakes & sat nav (maybe too late now!)

lamlp640 - may see you on the M4 one day

jontysafe - any detail / links re - paint protection film, how do i tell if its got it already!

many thanks

Hi Rehsob,

If you are going to get paint protection film applied, do it sooner rather than later before you do pick up any stone chips.

Try either www.paintshield.co.uk
or www.armourfend.co.uk

Not cheap but worth it, as soon as I`ve had a couple of chips repaired I`m having mine done at Paintshield. The way to tell if it`s already applied is lift the bonnet and check round the edges of the front valence where it meets the bonnet.

I have a funny feeling you`re going to enjoy this summer!!

If the front of your car is not too badly stone chipped then get the paintshield protection before it gets really bad. I've done 10,500 miles since new and the front of my Z is like brand new and you can specify how much of the car to be covered. The bonnet has either full coverage which I went for or partial cover, all depends on how deep your pockets are but well worth it. I went for paintshield up in Grantham and they were very helpful, they are the main supplier in the UK but there are other companies that supply and fit paintshield throughout the UK under licence through Grantham.
