2 random issues, maybe related?

Hi all my 2003 3.0l has two intermittent issues that I can't work out.

1. Every now and again when I have first started the car in the morning as I pull away the car sounds like it stutters but then instantly clears up and drives as normal? I thought coil pack degrading possibly but there are no codes and no other signs of a fault.

2. Since buying the car in June on three occasions it hasn't started when I turned the key, turned over as normal but no start, second attempt it starts instantly. Again no codes and drives fine, this has only happened with my keys though not with my Mrs set, this may be coincidence but wondering if my key may be going flat and causing this?

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Only had ours for a couple of weeks,

I have the same issue with difficulty on start up on occasion. I turn the key to wait for dash lights to go off before starting the engine but sometimes it just needs switching off completely and starting again. Drives without a problem and nothing else obvious.

Just ordered new spark plugs hoping this will resolve the issue! Will let you know if this helps,

Maybe its a 2003 3.0 thing? :!:

Pre-ignition coils/plugs or software. I'd find a local Indy and get it plugged into a diagnosis machine to see what's going on.

Ok so the only fault possibly relating to the non start was:

Key - Short circuit to ground
Count: 3

Can't find any info on this online, anyone know what this means?

"A short to ground means there is very little or no resistance between some electrical device and ground. A "dead short" would be no resistance at all. This causes very high current which blows fuses and causes overload protection devices to trip out."

Don't know if this helps,

Have you checked the fuses?

We've changed the spark plugs and unplugged the battery - so far no issues and improved response with the start up. If it continues we may need to look into the other suggestions above and get a diagnostic check...
