2 or 4 Post lift.

Had a few delays and even more mind changes but no going back now. Automotech 4 post lift arrived today, fingers crossed, should fit it over the weekend. Well start it at least. πŸ˜‚

Serious installation …

Just out of curiosity but what prompted the change from 2 post to 4 post?
My brain not listening to the laws of physics. Not so much with the Z but the Hanging off a land rover on a wrecking bar worries wouldn't go away and mounting a 110 on the 2 post looked a bit tricky. I might even get a 2 post some time :D

Very impressive. Are you assembling it yourself?
Mostly but some bits look a bit heavy and awkward, so my bezzy oppo Dave might have to come over for coffee. I always prefer to do things myself then I know it's done correctly, no corners cut and if it all goes pear shaped then it's no one else's fault.

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with the quality and fit Nick…my two lifts went together with no issues.

One thing to mention, you’ll need a C rated circuit breaker of the correct amp as B rated either trip, or the lift won’t even try to fire due to the initial voltage surge needed.

I know what you mean - it doesn't look like it should work, but I've seen X5s on 2 post lifts at my BMW Indy.

And the bonus of a 4 post is you'd be able to do 4 wheel alignment, although I imagine the laser kit from people like Hunter doesn't come cheap!

Thumbs up for the quality, it's not too often I feel like I got my moneys worth. It weighs more than I expected. Got promoted to granddad duties most of the day but still managed to put the bits all in the right areas and the right ways up. Not had to use Dave yet but he's an electrician so he'll sort that side out. I only did the first fix and left the thinking bit to him but the fuse on the board is C rated and its all armoured cable with 25mm swa 100amp cable for the supply, looks like overkill but should do the trick and it was left over from another job so cost nowt. As for allignments i'm making a string frame to fit on the ramp, I'd have to sell the silver to buy a Hunter kit.

Don't blame you!

All done. Works a treat, lifts and rests level, I'm really impressed with the quality and the Z even with shorter tyres and lower suspension drives straight on. Now its time to tidy up and have a pint 🍻

Very nice looking. Is there something so you can take the wheels off and the car is still supported?

Yes would love to have a space like that with a lift . When are you opening it up for fellow forum members

Yes it has this 2.5 tonne jacking beam which slides the whole length of the platform. It's a bit tight under the Z but it works very well.

The queue is so long I'm gonna have to build a waiting room bigger than the workshop

That looks great, in fact your whole workspace does.

I've got garage envy!
