Hey everyone,
My MPG reading is 28mpg but after emptying half a tank on the road and calculating my miles, im getting closer to 20mpg. Anyone know if this is a known issue and what MPG do you usually get ?

Did you brim the tank after emptying half the tank? If not it’s based on guesswork, you need to empty a full tank & brim it again to accurately know the amount of fuel used.
How long are your journeys as this has a big effect on mpg, as does driving style :thumbsup:

I have Fuelio on the phone and update it as and when I fill the car every two weeks or so.

Lets you see how the fuel consumption is over a period of time.
 
Not had my 2.5si long and just about to fill for the third time. I always brim fill my cars (and keep a spreadsheet too - sad, I know)
First tank - driving 400+ miles home after buying it I got 36mpg
Second tank - around home I got 23 mpg.
Early days...
 
I try not to drive like I stole it :D but you know how it goes. I might try downloading that app. In a week I have filled it up twice which is crazy. I let the tank run virtually empty before brim filling it. we shall see how it goes.

Unfortunately I haven't got an OBD scanner to check for codes, it was last serviced about 3 weeks ago, and nothing raised its head. Tyre pressure is fine, just added some the other day.
 
Check on the Carly thread to see if there's anyone close that can maybe give the car a check for error codes.
 
34 mpg is optimistic I'd say. I had a 2.2 for a couple of years and got around 28mpg. That was a mix of driving, the majority being sensible.
 
I’ve got an automatic 3.0i from 2003.
Short commute and a heavy left foot in Sport Mode gets me 22 mpg most weeks!
I’m not complaining; it’s a joy to drive every day and I didn’t buy it to be economical with fuel. There’ll be plenty of time for that in the future once the Eurocrats have had their way and have stopped us driving these beauties at all!!
 
I've had an E91 325i (with the same 2.5 litre N52 engine) for a year and the OBC is showing 34.4 mpg average!

But I never have to go out in rush hours, and at least 95% of my mileage is on dual-carriageway A Roads or Motorways - and I also use an Excel spreadsheet. :oops:
 
Although not directly useful, it could be used as a comparison. I am getting 9l/100k since I have owned by 3.0 Si, (6 months) which equates to 31 mpg.

Perhaps I should drive it a little harder :D :driving:
 
My old 2.5si averaged around 28mpg for reference.

Yes I know there are many variables but it’s a real world figure.
 
32mpg (lifetime average) here, but that included regular long commutes.

Close to 20mpg I remember being quite difficult to achieve, but it's feasible enough with short/cold journeys and a distain for anything above 3rd gear.
 
Don't know about the 2.5.si but my 3.0.si averages about 26 mpg , mostly round town. Don't think they like being driven steady, I've finally worked out that the harder I drive it the better it is !
