2.5si - exhaust options advice please!

Evening all. I've had my 2.5si for a couple of months now and am still really happy with it.

The only thing really missing is a touch more aural entertainment. However, I should point out that I don't really want to be driving around in something that people can hear coming 5-mins before they've even seen me!

That said, I'm a big believer in that you get what you pay for, so I'm not adverse to spending more money for a quality system if it comes highly recommended.

Could somebody please treat me like a simpleton and therefore list the options that you think I have?

My second 3.0Si had a custom cat-back system a previous owner had made for it and I really liked it compared to my previous 3.0Si on a stock system, but that is a bit of an expensive option!

I've heard a 3.0Si that has had a back-box delete which is definitely tuneful, but I don't think I could live with it on a long journey. :roll:

There used to be someone who would open the box up and remove some of the internals which got good reviews, until someone on here had an issue when he paid for a modified box that never turned up.

Otherwise you could get something like a Supersprint back-box - a few people seem to have liked those.

My current MC came fitted with Powerflow back-boxes and I really like how they sound.

Hopefully someone who has tried something similar to what you want will be able to offer some advice.

Depending where you are, mike at zshed (ducklakeview.on here) does a great conversion on existing back box sounds great looks standard

2.5si here, purchased it with a stainless back box which droned at 2000rpm but sounded great. I've temporarily put a removable baffle in and it's a pretty good compromise tbh. I put two baffles in and it sounded like a fighter jet because of the restrictions, just one gives just enough bass and burble. Going forward I'll go to the local exhaust fabricator and ask them to modify this box or make another to a similar volume. All I know is drone ruins your experience of the car if you ever just "travel" in it. Err on the side of caution with your exhaust mods if its a daily or you have long road trips planned.
