2.5si engine - what's missing?

For the past year I've had a 2006 2.5si, manual. It's just come to light that something is missing from the engine - but I'm not sure what.

Clearly the previous owner has dicked around with it a bit. I've just given it an insp 2 service, and when going to fit a new air filter discovered there was a K&N filter fitted and that the complete air intake assembly was put together loosely, letting in unmetered air. Left the K&N in situ but refitted the intake assembly correctly - and the pinking has now vanished

But noticed a 'nozzle' that surely should have something attached - visible between the two rearmost cylinders, as below:

Now, according to realoem there should be either a pipe/hose #9 (no longer available) or a covering cap #5 fixed there, as below:

So if you've got a 2.5si, what do you have there? And if it's the hose, where does it go to?

Any ideas?

cheers

Just had a look at my 2.5si (black top)

Looks like it has been done away with by bmw, not there at all, so no open end to cap.

EDIT: car is badged Aug 07

The silver top si N52 engines had an external ccv, the later black top engines had a ccv integral with the valve cover.
My old si was a silver top engine and had no cap on that nozzle, after checking it wasn’t drawing in or expelling air i decided to cap it off anyway to stop any dirt entering the port
