2.5i or 2.5Si?

Looking at a couple of these of similar age. Kit on Si is more generous, price a little higher, as is mileage.

Running costs on Si will presumably be a bit higher, but probably not markedly so.

Am I going to feel short-changed if I get the 2.5i rather than the Si?

Depends. 2.5si has more power (218bhp vs 170bhp IIRC).

If you can afford slightly higher running costs, go with the Si

the 2.2 is 170 BHP the 2.5i is 192BHP and the 2.5si is 218BHP although the si reaches it at slightly higher revs

Yes indeed. Be aware that the 2.5i in the 2003-2006 model produces 192bhp. in the 2006-2009 model the 2.5i has 177bhp and the Si had 218 bhp. Not sure why it has less, I see that the 2.2 was discontinued in the 2006-2009 model and the downgraded 2.5i fills that position I guess. I would go for the Si.

Does anybody know what the big differences are between the M54 and N52 engines? Is the N52 an upgraded M54 or entirely re-designed?
