2.5i N52 Oil capacity????

Ok, doing my first Z4 oil change, the owners manual says this 7.6litres for my 2008 2.5i N52. However the world of Google is saying 6.5litres or 7 quarts??. So which is right? Don't want to put too much in, oh and to add to this I have drained my oil already, and currently parked on a sloping driveway and Z4 has no dipstick. I could measure what came out but would prefer a definitive answer, oil filter changed too of course. Thanks

Look at the book again, that’s the capacity of the manual gearbox. The engine takes 6.5litres :wink:

Yes definitely 6.5 litres, better measure it out as the digital oil dipstick is next to useless.

Cheers, really handy of BMW giving the gearbox oil capacity and not the engine. I read it as being the engine oil capacity depending on whether it’s manual or auto . Thanks again, yes I will measure 6.5 litres in

That 7.6 and 8.4 litres is coolant system capacity, not oil capacity.

Yes, that’s definitely coolant capacity. Very poorly written I agree.
