2.5i - adding the sound generator?

Hi there,
I have the 2003 M54B25 Z4 roadster. Is there a way to retrofit the 3.0 sound generator pipe to my car?
Or maybe even DYI one out of some random stuff?

I'd love to add more engine/intake noise without further modifying the exhaust.

I believe if you get the intake pipe/sound generator pipe it just bolts up. There's a diaphragm between the intake airflow and the pipe to the cabin, so I'd be surprised if you could DIY it easily. Not just a Y pipe going to the cabin, that would mess with the MAF sensor readings!

It’s a simple diy. You need the 3.0. Lower intake boot to allow the sound generation. Then simply bolt it all on and pass through the bunged hole in the firewall. 20 min job. I’ll have a look and see if I can find pics when I did it

I did a quick research and my findings are:
The 3.0 intake is slighlty different. It doesn't have a hole, and it's after the MAF - so IMHO it's a simple replacement.
The tube between the intake and firewall just resonates the sound.
So I need just the assembly for the sound generator and intake boot. Luckily I have the hole inside the firewall :)

Some pics in this old thread of mine. https://z4-forum.com/threads/tlc-time.89350/ Where are you based? Happy to help if you’re local
Unfortunately I'm from Poland, but looks like it's absolutely doable so that's great.
I would consider maybe getting an aftermarket silicone pipe if I can't source decent OEM parts :)
But I have no clue how to reliably figure out the fitting to the firewall :)

Its easy, just need to pinch the plastic sleeve from your 2.5 rubber and swap it into the 3.0 one. We have done a couple too

Did you notice the difference with and without the sound generator?
I tried to search for youtube clips but no luck :)

And also - is the cold air intake more noticeable?

With all the foams out its hilarious but soon wears off. I think one foam is the happy place, no regrets, its a great mod if you can get the parts cheap enough.
