With a remap the lowly 18i is faster than the 3.0 n/a engined cars, i should think they’d be pretty happy with it then

I'd imagine if you bought one of those, you'd probably not be that interested in remapping... yes its doable but I'm not sure most people would just get a faster one in the first place..its simpler in the long term due to possible problems with reliability or insurance to mention a couple of things.

Disagree, the 18i is the bargain of the bunch & stands to gain the most from mapping-these are good reasons for not just buying a faster one in the first place.
Stick with a well known remapper & reliability shouldn’t be an issue, don’t forget the 18i has an identical engine to the 20i and 28i :?

I suppose I can chime in on this a bit. I own a 23i and love it, quite irrationally so actually. My previous car was a 2007 Audi TT 3.2 Quattro which in my opinion is one of the pound for pound performance bargains of the century. Mine, whilst completely stock (with DSG) and with 75,000 miles on the clock nailed a 4.9 second 0-60 time with some funky timing kit attached.

when I got the 23i I was initially worried I would miss the power of the TT but honestly I LOVE the Z4. It is rapid rather than out and out quick but if feels fast and delivers it's power in a wonderfully linear fashion. I can also rag it much harder without quickly finding myself at some rather naughty speeds. You will have to get used to various vans, family cars, city cars etc beating you off the line at traffic lights unless you are really trying (turbos really do make those things quick from 0-30) but once it is up and moving it is a wonderful car to drive, feels genuinely special and brings so many smiles per mile!

+1 for me too. I'd much rather a 6pot than a spanked 4 cylinder every day ( :fuelfire: )

You're welcome to disagree...all I'm saying is that I would think that most people at this pricepoint aren't into remapping... yes in a few years time when the cars are much cheaper, people might be more likely to do it. JMHO... :D

You’re entitled to your opinion, no matter how wrong it is :poke:

Supposedly so...although it doesn’t quite stack up as a remapped 28i seems to make more power than a remapping 18i - even with the well known trusted tuners. If the numbers can be believed that is.

That’s not because of the engine, it’s the way they remap them starting from an original datum point
