2.0i MPG put to the test

Decided to not do my usual commute this morning and bomb it to Birmingham making the most of the empty motorways at 5am, instead decided to see what the 2.0 could actually pull MPG wise when driven sensibly (70MPH motorway etc.)

Trip meter and MPG both reset before leaving home and picture taken in office carpark.

Was quite happy with the result:

Not bad!

That was my 04 2.5 ^^^ check the mileage!
Although that was on 50-60 roads. Wouldn't manage that on the motorway that woukd be more like 38ish.

Put me to shame already near enough xD

Those numbers are something I will miss if I ever move up to a 3.0 / M :D

At least its still going strong at that mileage :D

I'm sure you can try harder... I've managed 460 miles to a full tank before... And when filling up again only took 50L, so thats about 42mpg on my car!

Although my obc said 40mpg, but it also said for the last 10 miles --miles remaining

I've done 124 with the OBC showing about 405~ miles left in the tank so far.

However that number will rapidly drop if I have to drive back to the hotel this week instead of leaving the car at the office :(

That's what I achieve driven sensibly. Always get at least 42mpg even on country roads whilst my 116i Series I only returns 37mpg.

The smaller engines are pretty economical, but if you drive the 3.0i steady you can get almost 40mpg average on a 70mph motorway run.

Hmm I'm thinking these 2.0L people aren't trying very hard... Got 41.3mpg no drive up to Sheffield last night, 135miles from quarter of a tank!

That was sat steady on the motorway of course - can only dream of those numbers around town etc
