2.0 owners corner

Another 2.0 owner and I'm happy with its performance and have no problems with the brakes .
Just had a oil change and brake fluid change and the brakes are just the same. IE no problems :driving:

Well I will definitely get the brakes done then if everyone else thinks they're fine. I would have thought the 2.0 would have the same setup as the more powerful models as that can often be cheaper for the manufacturer than having a different setup. Could be wrong though.

On Saturday night I met up with a mate who drives a MG ZS180. They're a good car the ZS, Honda-based front wishbone and rear multilink chassis and a 2.5V6 up front, so pretty quick. 0-60 is 7.3 according to the manufacturer. We were on a deserted road so had a little duel, I was surprised to see he couldn't get away from me!

I think the 2.0 is a great engine, I can hardly hear it usually (just the deep exhaust note) but when I do hear it, it sounds a lot like a six cylinder engine to me. BMW must have gone to a lot of trouble to make it smooth because with the 3 series it replaced a six cylinder engine in the 320i when they replaced the E46.

Sorry to hear others have had problems though. Mine seems spot on. It does idle with a very slight lumpiness but I've had other cars (performance cars) that do this, so put it down to that :)

Another delighted 2.0i owner!

Buying and running costs weren't a motive for getting the 2.0, I bought it for it's lighter weight and in my opinion, better handling. Cornering speed & grip is just incredible isn't it?! Within the speed limit, dare I say I think you can probably have more fun with a 2.0.

Gripes, well there were some rattles and creaks but got sorted those quickly.

The car certainly gives lots of smiles and gets lots of admiring gazes. The styling of the E85, if you love it... those slashes bulges and curves... wow.

Oh and another plus. Lift the bonnet, there's space for another suitcase in there ;-)

Got any info on that mate? I have the same. Seems mainly the outer vents and cupholders and the minibar behind me.

My cup holders and vents have been OK.

I had a creak from the plastic piece of trim that runs along the offside 'A' pillar. A small piece of velcro (soft-side) sorted that.

Also the passenger footwell, where the dash and console plastics meet. A small foam block remedied that.

Oh, and the unfastened passenger seat belt clasp knocking against the side, another small piece of soft velcro on the back of the clasp did the job!

Happy hunting!

Cheers,
John

Had two 2.0 over six years and still like the car. Bought principally for the rag top roadster side and the power and performance is fine for me. No specific 2.0 probs just the usual z4 issues springs, window motor etc on the earlier car.
