1st to 2nd gear

Had my 3.0 Z for about 3 weeks now and getting to know the car better now. From very earlier posts I noticed a common problem with jerkiness(1st to 2nd) with the remedy of removing the CDV.

I seem to have encountered the problem this week, what is the CDV exactly and can a quicker gear change or rev range negate the problem.

I have good and bad days with the CDV, in traffic today it was getting annoying having to drive around it. I just want it to WORK, grrr :D

Will be removing mine next time I can! Driving around it is ok, until you need to do lots of stop start and then it just gets too much :D

Hit a lot of town traffic this morning so doing a lot of stop start in 1st and 2nd, thought it was a dodgy clutch at first but noticed it only happens in these gears. Where is the CDV exactly and is it a simple DIY job. Thanks for the explanation/info by the way.

Believe me the difference is amazing wish I had removed mine much earlier, the CDV was installed so idiots wouldnt shock the drivetrain and for no other reason, just get shot of it and have a proper car.

Doesnt it make ur warranty invalid? Ive another 6 months of warranty left and wait until then.

Remove the constrictor piece, machine it out so it's not a constriction, and replace.

Then claim ignorance if they ever spot it :D

Exactly, previous owner may have done it.

What is this all about? I've noticed sometime I get jerky acceleration, say pulling out of a junction in 1st, so had put it down to bumpy roads causing my foot to "bounce" on the clutch a little...

Someone have a quick explanation of the CDV?
