1hour 59 minute 40. Seconds Marathon

Pretty genuine and just amazing to watch for the last 2 hour.

Eliud Kipchoge your in the history books.

Great achievement :happyclap:

But when a commentator described it as "a gift to the world" I wondered if they were slightly OTT

Having tried to be an athlete for all my adult life, Im simply in awe of this achievement. There are no buts. Just an amazing individual effort, backed up by a great team effort.

It moves the game on. Others now know it can be done and will strive to become the first to break this barrier in racing conditions.

I used to do the Great North run each year. Last one when I was 65, nine years ago. I was pleased to finish in under two hours for this half marathon. Under two hours is a magnificent achievement for a full marathon.

Didn't know anything about this till I saw it on my news app. Brilliant! Apparently he had rolling pacers, but so what....its still his legs that did the job!

Chicago marathon tomorrow. I watch a guy called "kofuzi" on youtube. He's aiming for sub 3.

I thought this might happen one day, but not so soon.
After Sir Roger Bannister achieved the sub 4 minute mile (something that was thought impossible), several other atheletes did it in quick succession. If that's anything to go by, I would expect more sub 2hr marathons soon.

Try turning your treadmill up to 21kph.
I can’t even sprint that fast, never mind do it for 2 hours.
Hats off to the guy.

Can you do 100 metres in 15.56 seconds?

That's what this guy averaged for nigh on 2 hours non-stop!
