19" ride comfort with standard suspension

i posted awhile back that i test drove a Zed with 19s and in M Sport trim and didn't like it at all. found its too hard even on smooth surfaces. so i set out looking for a non sport on 18s.
here's my problem, i bought such a car without test driving based on comments on here and press about the difference in the 2 suspensions and my m sport experience. BUT i spotted a better car and have now put a deposit down on a standard car with 19's. i am due to pick it up Monday

de you think i will be happy?

i would point out we have a 318d m sport with 18s and run flats and find this fine

My M sport with 19's is fine - and I doubt that if you did a proper blind test that you could tell the difference between 18 or 19's

I think if you offer a swap for your 19's you will be killed in the rush! :D

I have a 35i non M Sport Model, which rides on 19'' wheels. I'm pretty sure the ca doesn't have the M Sport suspension even because of the bigger engine, and it rides fine. Like all cars like this, it's a little crashy over bad roads and pot holes, but otherwise it's fine.

Mines is a 2.3i on 19" as said its a bit crashy over potholes and can tramline a bit but not that bad TBH.
Remember and check rears for cracks if it's an used car especially if 296 style wheels

Depends which 19's! They look good but some keep cracking!

Personally I wouldn't swap my 18's for 19's! :)

I used to have an E85 with 17's & my M-Sport E89 with 19's definitely rides better & tramlining is virtually non-existant... It's a firm ride but it's a sports car, wouldn't want to go softer...

Roads are hideously bad around me (Surrey) so you'll know if you hit a pothole without noticing it, but other than that it rides fine IMHO

I put non runflats on my old E85 (108's) and the ride / tramline thing improved - but have to say my E89 on 19's is a head and shoulders better.

just read the 'cracking' post as they are indeed 296 alloys on my soon to be Z4
looks like the problem is on the inside so will be hard to spot on pick up. well at least it has 12 months more warrentty on it if they go wrong

may take up the offer of the 18s if i find it too hard cos i am getting on a bit :)

I'm no spring chicken either and find the M suspension on the 19's perfectly acceptable - Stop worrying and enjoy the car when it arrives and make the best of the bright autumn days! :D

Changed my 19 inch runflats for non runflats . .what a difference it makes such a better drive

It must be good! As I said, mine is better than my E85 with Vredesteins.
Which tyres have you chosen?

Mate where are you buying it from? Even if it has got warranty, it isn't guaranteed they will replace them under warranty if you make them aware of it after you pick it up. You MUST get it checked beforehand, otherwise the dealer will try and be out of it....

The replacement of cracked wheels by the manufacture is far from consistent either,so dont bank on the warranty. :(

haven't read the complete thread so how do i check?
looks like you cant tell from the front so will i have to ask to see it on a ramp?
cant believe the company would query something like this under warranty!
anything else to check?

information like this is why i love enthusiasts forums
