i think the car might handle even better with 18s same size all round (225/40/18) but i think the novelty of having fat rears is the whole roadster idea

after having 19's for over a year now i think i might invest in some lightweight 18's - probably some Oz ultralegras next year.

Coming from 108's i found my VMR's about 2KG heavier with with 265/30/19 rears... which i instantly noticed effected the acceleration and braking.

While i love the look of 19's the ride is also noticeable harder... but still less crashy then with 18" RFT's.

There's two problems with 265/30/19 on the rear, 1st its a non standard size for the Zed, and such the rolling diameter is greater than designed to be and will actually make it slower. The 2nd, you practically sit over the rear wheel and the increase in footprint manifests more noise.

I found that my 225's all-round was about 2 -3 dB quieter than the 255/30/19, whilst this may not be significant on short journeys, 4 hours on a motorway is way to stressful

I see these wheels are 8.5 and 9.5" wide as opposed to 8 and 8.5".
I have some nearly new Falken 452, 225 40 and 255 35.
Can these fit safely or do I need to go up a size?

these are great value for money mate, rear dish is much deeper then the front. can get them in this chrome tip colour, all silver or matt black which is just what i fitted to my car few days ago and they look great. oh and mine are 18".

You can fit the 225's to the 8.5, however there will be absolutely no rim protection, in fact the rim will sit proud of the tyre, I would guess this will be the same for the 255's on the 9.5 just more so. In my humble opinion it looks stupid, kind of boy racer-ish but each to their own

Them tyres will fit straight on mate. Them are the sizes I have on in the picture. There isn't much rim protection but there wasn't much when I had the 108s on cos they were kerbed to hell. I park carefully everytime a good foot from the kerb anyway as there's loads of nails and crap hidden in the sides of the road.

They actually don't look to bad on yours, probably because the wheels are black

I'm interested to know what you are basing this statement on?
Have you had 19'' wheels fitted to your car?

I've got 19'' wheels fitted and have no issues with any of the above although I did remove the runflats.

I've got 265/30/19s on the rears and the rolling radius is less than 1% greater than the original tyres and I've noticed no change in road noise and in fact without runflats I would say there is less noise.
I would also be amazed if you could detect any change in performance.

Just collected research from here and past experience of modding other cars. 19s are too big but that's just my personal opinion. Every1 knows that if u increase unsprung weight it a bad thing not a good thing. No iv never fitted 19s to this car before.

The car I test drove had 19" wheels, coming from an Audi A4 cabriolet, the road nose was astonishingly bad and very nearly put me off the car. In th end I decided to keep the standard 17" wheels with 225 all round.

However, I have just purchased a set of 18" BBS alloys again shod with 225's. One thing I did notice running 225's on the rear gives better traction, in the wet and dry, than my old 2.5Si shod with MV2's
