19" Alloys!! Offsets, tyres & rubbing?

Hi all,

I'm after a set of 19's for my 3.0i zed. I'm even more confused about the correct offsets for my car! bmautosport in Eastbourne tell me that the alpina rep wheels I want are no good for a zed as the offset is et38, but I've also been told on here and a seller on eBay et38 will be perfect for my zed????

Who do I believe? So I'm putting my trust in the forum for help!

Can you guys & gals post pics of you cars, wheels, the offset(s), your tyre sizes and if they rub!

Thanks all in advance ;)

There's a good calculator HERE that will let you put in your current tyre, wheel and offset as well as a comparison.

URL (in case I screwed up the link) is http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

I ran ET 35 allround on my non Z and they were fine..

I only got the smallest of touches under compression on the front, where the tyre touched the headlamp covers in the wheelarch.. I heated them and bent them away. This was running 235-35-19..

I don't understand why Bmautosport are saying they wont fit as they are advertising wheels for the Z4 in that exact size. :?

When fitting 19 inch wheels with various offsets you are playing with very small margins. In my experience an offset of 35 front and rear seems to work fine. Most issues seem to be with the fronts and I would suggest the tyre size is also significant.
I fitted a 225/35/19 as I saw people suffering with rubbing due to fitting the slightly wider 235 tyres. I know members (well perhaps just one) have fitted 9 inch wheels with a 25 offset without problems but you must remember the lower offset is positioning the wheel a lot further out from the inside of the arch and suspension etc. but this results in a very aggressive stance and possibly not what the average user is looking for.
I have 19 inch wheels 8.5 fronts and 9.5 rears et35 all round lowered on eibachs without any rubbing at all.
I would have thought a front offset of 38 would be ok as the wheel would be positioned only 3mm further in towards the struts than mine but as I said there are very small margins to play with and I have about a 5mm clearance from rubbing.

Is anyone running on 19's with an ET38 all round with 225/35/19 & 255/265/19/30 on the rears? any pics...

Thanks Dav the wheel nut, bmautosport said i will need ET40/45 for my car? the thing is on the website they show a ZC with the wheels fitted which is really added more confusion to the matter!

Like Dave says.... I would have thought a 225 35 19 would be the ideal front tyre for the Z.....

Hi Terry

The rear off set is a little low for that can and im sure they would rub, need to be et40-45 really.

Marius,Can you list what tyres your using to aid the OP ..

i did ,however without knowing his wheels width it's abit pointless discussion
They are 8.5 and 9.5! I have replied to bmautosport regarding the photo on their website, I've been looking about and a few Internet alloy sellers all say these are perfect for the zed!

I'd like to buy from bmautosport as they are just 15mins away, so i hope they will get back me tomorrow! Hopefully they have some in stock so I can try some on? :)

I've decided maybe 19's are not really worth the hassle! There is too many people & companies have different opinions for the fitment on my zed! I don't want to spend £1000 on wheels that rub or have any other issues, this is why I asked this simple question....

Thanks to all who have made a relevant contribution to my question! BUT....I've made an offer on a set of genuine 224's so ill know they fit... Fingers crossed! ;)
