18" wheels wanted suitable for E89 fitment

Hi folks,

Looking for a set of 18" alloys suitable for my E89.

I'd consider a set which need refurbing as long as the price accounts for this, but not interested in any cracks, buckles, dents or previous repairs/welds and all wheels must hold air.

Happy to consider any OEM BMW style/design as long as it will bolt straight onto my car (sDrive30i) but it needs to be reasonably modern looking (which rules out some of the E85 wheels) and will be compatible with the fresh rubber currently fitted to my 294's.

Just bumping this as I'm still on the lookout for a set of wheels and don't want to keep chiming in on other people's threads!

I've spoken to a few local companies and have a chap who will refurb my 294's for £55 per corner - factor in the cost of removing tyres (£30?) then £250 at a guess.

Tyre wise, if I went for a set of middle of the road tyres (Bridgestone, for example) it would cost £410 for the set.

So basically, £670 for brand new tyres and near as dammit brand new looking wheels (which also happen to be my favourite design) - compared to the £300 to £500 I've been looking at for 2nd hand options. That's based on Black Circles tyre prices anyway.

Decisions decisions.

To be fair, that’s a decent price If that’s for a proper strip down, referb and rebuild job on split rims.

Surely that’s a logical option if you know the rims are straight and true, hold air are un-damaged and you like them?

You’d get a bit back on the 17’s towards the cost too :thumbsup:

I suppose you could sell the 294’s ....but limited market in current colour scheme I’d guess.

Yes, all your points are what I've been mulling over - could probably even source some cheaper tyres too if I shop around and include ebay.
 
The price you have for refurbing the 294s is very good and personally I would probably do that but even on these 18" wheels be sure to put non run flats tyres. Mine came with 294s and run flats, the ride was harsh the noise terrible, they were so bad that I changed them within 3 days of buying the car for some non run flat Goodyears and the difference was night and day. Many of my friends and neighbours have complimented these wheels and I do think they look good but sometimes I think the car would look better with 19"s and with an offset that would fill the rear arches better (without having to use spacers). Maybe one day I will change them but for now they will do.
 
I think I'll get them refurbed either way - gives me the option of using/selling them later on. I do love the styling of the 294's, I think I'd probably pick them given free choice of any E89 wheel.

19" wheels definitely look good but I think I'd rather avoid the potential for cracking, even with non run-flats fitted - terrible roads around where I live and I had a nightmare with my E85 on it's last MOT, 2 rear wheels damaged beyond repair.

I just missed out on a set of Z4M alloys which had been on Ebay for ages but I never pulled the trigger on - shame as they came with decent non run-flats and just needed a basic refurb. Grrr.
 
I have a set of 326M's up for grabs. 19" 8.5J front, 9.5J rear.
one is currently cracked and needs a weld/repair, but Id be happy to sort that if you wanted them. they are otherwise in a reasonable condition.

I know you mention no cracks... but I thought I would let you know they are here if you change your mind.

they are the original wheels from my e89, the crack was there when I bought the car. the previous owner was on runflats, which are still on the wheels, the front 2 tyres have tread, the rears probably need swapping out. I opted to buy a new set of non BMW rims, and soft tyres so the 326's are currently cluttering up my garage.

Still looking - lots of near misses but haven't found a set that suits budget (which is creeping up) and/or geography yet.

Missed a decent set of 442's 20 mins down the road from me by about 10 mins at the weekend, grrrr.

I thought you refurbished them in silver,... am I imagining that?
 
Nope, my local refurb guy had a bad day unfortunately - well a bad weekend actually.

3 are fine, 1 has a noticeable yellowy tinge to it which has been irking me ever since - time for another go, ideally without the added faff of dealing with split rims!
