Hi all, iv got a 3ltr 2004 z4 on standard suspension which i dont want to change. issue is i want to change my wheels to probably the csl reps from bmauto and im wondering if the 19s will affect the handling or performance at all? are they much heavier then the standard wheels iv got on (standard bmw 5 spoke split rims) and is the quality of the daily ride ruined, speed bumps/pot holes etc made worse?

cheers in advance for any advise guys.

Welcome to the Forum. 19's may be an issue with rubbing but others may comment on this. Ride quality will suffer so it's perhaps a matter of form over function.

I have 19s nad have no rubbing issues, the ride is slightly better since i went from 18s rft to 19s non-rft as its stopped wanting to tramline everywhere. The only issue is that it may look like its on stilts if it hasnt been lowered

Agree with all the above!

Agree with all of the above - my car is riding on 19" non-runflats lowered on Eibachs - http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=31848

cheers for advise guys, i definatly dont want to lower the car as i want to be able to make it as easy as possible to sell on when that day comes. think il be sticking to 18 csl wheels then. cheers :)

Mark had same thoughts as you ! Like the look of 19's but didn't want to lower the car . Went for 18's with nonRft's car drives great with no problems.

yeh i totally agree the 19s look great but if its going to slow acceleration and upset the handling i dont think its worth it as i see my roadster more of a drivers car then a posers car. Kermit where did you buy your CSLs from?

Mark , got them from BM auto ! Speak with Mark very helpfull & very good qaulity.he will tell you the same , he talked me out of 19's,he could have made more money from me but told him i like to drive my car rather than stare at it ! Got wheels & tyres for £850 if i remember. Staggerd & falken 452 's

Have to disagree I have 19"s and drive all over europe with no handling issues, rubbing or acceleration that to a human is noticeably slower and there are many others, if you change the tyre profile I think there is a 1-2% difference from 18"s and still nowhere near as hard as BMW approved RFTs

18's definitely better, less tramlinng same on z4 as previous m3, had 18's and 19's on both.
