18 inch wheel & Tyres advice needed

Hi all

What do you think of my new wheel and tyre set up, same size all round.
Do I need bigger tyres on the rears or do I add spacers to the rears or leave well alone??
All four are 18'' x 8j ET35 and have 225/40/18 Accelera tyres. Not the most appreciated tyre I would guess but they were on the wheels when i purchased them from a forum member and I think they look better than my shabby MV 2's that we're on the car when I purchased it.

Any advice appreciated.

I like em :) M5 style & id take the Accelera tyres over the standard Bridgestones all day , if decent amount of tread they aren't a bad tyre for budgets
A 10/15mm spacer on the backs will obviously give a better stance & when it comes to tyres you could fit staggered tyres @ 245 35 rear 225 40 front if you wanted to enhance a wider rear look ?
Are you not happy how they sit in the arches :?

I really like the rims, but the tyres are hopeless.

While I agree with Mr Wilks in them over the Bridgestones I'm sure that's really because they are not RFT's. However imho not only real ditch finders on anything but a warm dry road, but being narrow and higher profile I don't think they are doing the look of the car any good.

255/35's on the rear are much better suited

If they're Accelera Alpha tyres they aren't in the same vein as the woeful Sunny or Lingalongs :D
If the car is driven at all times to the roads speed limits & they have plenty of tread they will drive ok .
I had a pair of 225 45 17s for a while on the front of a Golf GT Tdi & they were fine
I would agree that getting a wider rear on will help the overall stance , the 225 40 18 would be standard fit on 8j rims so the tyres themselves aren't undersized , the Z4s arches can be quite large & filling them with various offsets, widths & tyre sizes can be quite a science as the pic below will show of my previous Se 2,5
This pic always amuses me of my 2.5 roady on standard springs  the front wheel was 8.5j et32 with a 235 - 45 profile tyre

I just read the reviews and don't think bottom end budget tyres have any place on high performance RWD cars.

Of course driven carefully they're fine.

Thank you all for your advice

The tyres are nearly new so lots of tread left on them but may change the rears to wider tyres as suggested when I get the chance, I may also try the spacers idea to see what they look like if I can purchase any on here or e bay.
Once again thanks, this is a great site for all the help and information available to newbies like myself. :)
