Hello Z4 E89 ers...

I’m pondering getting some CSL / M359 type alloys in 18” size...I see you can go up to 9j front 10j rears..at least..

What’s the downsides to these wider rims?

What size tyres can be fitted without rubbing?

I know 8j front 9j rear with 225 front 255 back works but just curious..

I see the G29 can come with 10js...

Thoughts?

I can’t help you with the maximum wheel/tyre sizes but I’m looking at changing mine as whoever owned the car before me fitted 8” wide wheels and 225 tyres on the rear. I’m considering these wheels https://www.lkperformance.co.uk/wheels/fox-racing/5721-ms007-hyper-silver?vehicle=1641&front=19x8.5&rear=19x9.5 which come in 8.5” front and 9.5” rear. There is a tyre package available so I may go for the Falken FK510 which seems to get decent reviews. The tyre size they supply is 225/35/R19 front and 255/30/R19 rear which I’m happy with.

Happy with 255 30 19 on a 9.5j rear  i wouldn't be :( that will look like a rubber band on the rim & once in the arch most likely look lost , you want 265 30 or 255 35 on & fronts ideally should be 235 35 not 225 35

This guy fitted some largish wheels with no rubbing i believe?

You could be right! :) In which case I will go for these wheels https://www.lkperformance.co.uk/wheels/riva/395-dtm-hyper-silver?vehicle=1641&front=19x8.0&rear=19x9.0#tyre_brand%5B%5D=121&allround=&fronttyres=&reartyres=&b8id=&wheelid=6186&rearwheelid=6190&addtpms=true which are 8” front and 9” rear.

These are the Riva DTM wheels on DibbleCorse‘s car from an earlier thread. According to the details he fitted a 10mm spacer on the front wheels which I may have to consider.

Hello everyone, to bring the thread back to the root questions.....

What size / width in 18 inch can you fit taking into account the different ratio between rim and tyre size/profile can you fit?

And...how is handling impaired/improved going beyond the max oem tyre / rim size?

Thanks..

Interested to see how many people have fitted 18 inch CSL type wheels as well?
