18" CSL Wheels on a E85/E86

ive got 18" wheels with M-sport suspension. i'm thinking of going back to 17" wheels to get a bit more give in the tyres, but ive not yest found a set with the staggered fit and correct offsets for my E85

I too really would prefer to have 18"s on my E85 M, as I think they are proportioned a bit better with for the roadster. Also, having a bit more gives from more tyre is something my back would be grateful for. For the last 12 months I've owned the car, I've been trying to find a set of wheels that would look good on my car, but trying to avoid CSL style wheels, but they are such a timeless design that I am admitting defeat and am now actively on the hunt, as my standard wheels are in a sad state from corrosion on the inner side of the rim.

Part of me still wishes I could get a set of Alpina Classic's for the car, but I was starting to lose the plot trying to find the right wheels to go on my car. :headbang:

Having just kerbed my 19's, and needing a winter tyre set anyway, I too am looking for a set of 18's.

I've heard a few people say they didn't notice any difference in comfort going down an inch. Cheaper though!

Wouldn't it be noticeable on more worn out road surfaces and littered with potholes? It would help take some harshness out when you hit a blasted pothole?

If anyone's interested, I have a set of 18" Riva DTM CSL reps that i've wanted to put up for sale for months now. They will definitely need a refurb (lots of paint flaking off) but i would be happy to let them go for £150 with that in mind. Buyer would ned to collect, though i'd be happy to assist if you're based nearby. Feel free to PM me for pics and details. Cheers!

Here they are on the car...

You'd hope so. Nothing but roads like that where I live.

Looking at some of the images in this thread, I have to say that the thicker tyre look is growing on me. I think it might suit the almost vintage look of the early z4. I've also read that there may be less tramlining with 18's. :driving:

What size tyres are you considering with 19" wheels then? As all the ones I've seen seem to have the same profile tyres on the 19"s as on the 18"s, so it would be just the same, and if you're being really pedantic then the 19"s being bigger would iron out smaller bumps more than the 18"s.

Go for an aggressive offset, makes it look /that/ much better. I had 18's initially, never looked back after getting 19's.. then again, your roads aren't the best..
