18" CSL reps?

I know this has no doubt been done to death, so apologies in advance.

I am looking to get some CSL (reps) alloys for the MR and was thinking that I would probably like to stick to OEM sizes. I want to try and keep the car just as the M division intended it to be.

So 2 questions:

Is anyone on here running CSL reps in OE sizes and if so, any pics?

Where's best to buy CSL reps from?

Think I'm right in saying you're better going 19" if you want them close to OEM stuff.

BM Autosport or CM Wheels are your best bets, been in contact with both recently sterling people who definitely know their stuff.

Sorry, my post was missing a few words. I want to try and keep the rolling radius the same, so ideally looking for CSL reps in the exact same size as the OE Z4M alloys. I love how the car handles at the moment so don't want to change that with bigger wheels/tyres.

There are a few people running 18" CSLs on here, but in my opinion the CSLs have to be 19". In 18" they look too small, and don't look anywhere near as good as they do in 19" guise.

I just fitted 19" BBS CH's with Vred sessanta's and the ride feels less crashy. I'm guessing tyre choice plays as much of a part as the alloys will.

For the price of a rep set of alloys + decent tyres new you can get a genuine set second hand, the rolling radius is compensated for by using smaller tyres (lower profile).

Try on M3 cutters as genuine wheels come up fairly often and they have better re-sale value then reps.

For £1-£1.2k you should be able to pick up a set and there was a set of CS wheels for sale recently for £900 that may still be available :)

I had 19" CSLs with PS2s on my Z4MC when I bought it and changed them within a year to 18" OEM wheels, as the car was jumping around everywhere on my Welsh hoons. You even had to be careful of cutting a corner where there were cats eyes as at 8/10ths they'd help the car fly from one lane to the other.

Not regretted my decision in the next 3.5 years.

I intend to change to Michelin's when my current tyres run down as the tyres (Michelin's) I had on my OEM wheels were definitely better in terms of grip in the dry (traction light came on less) although the ride felt less compliant. But I intend to get the geometry sorted in the next few weeks and go from there.

I would agree that 19" wheels (on Vred's) on the Z4M are overkill but I prefer the look and my car does seem less crashy (although that's subjective). But in terms of the OP I would say that staying with OEM wheels is a better bet than 18" CSL reps and if not then a 19" wheel with a decent geometry setting and tyres to help offset any twitchyness from the wheel size change might be the way forward.

I can't say for sure yet as I haven't had my allignment and geometry looked at and won't be changing my tyres until next year by the looks of things. I'm just posting what I intend to do :)

Unfortunately, M5 is right on the wheel choice. Been there done it and got the t shirt. You don't notice changing up but you notice when you change back down.

Seriously spend your spare cash on suspension, nothing else matters, spacers could also be added to improve the look if so desired. The only issue with the oem wheels is that they aren't very aggressive looking its a shame because they look awesome on a non M.

What about Apex EC-7? They are available in 18" sizes and are a bit like CSLs, without being a rep.

I'm considering a set as second wheels.

Do we have any pics of before/after install of spacers on standard/csl's? I'm intregued to know what the effect looks at (hard to picture the change in stance..). One of the best bits of the Z4MC is the wide low stance, so capitalising on this would probably look good!

massively increased chance of gashing the rims tho!

EDIT: found this: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=51329&hilit=spacers

This is interesting, I always thought that people with CSLs (genuine ones at least) said the car handled better and felt more planted than with the OEM 18's.

On perfectly smooth A roads, motorways and tracks the 19s with wider front & rear tyres will make the turn in and grip better.

However, a lot of my leisure mileage is not on perfectly smooth roads, and I prefer a little more compliance to help soak up the roughness. The 'Ring is probably the smoothest road I drive (besides full time tracks of course).

I tried 19" csl reps on my z4c,but changed them for 18" ! Maybe don't look as good but the car drives far better with the 18's. both sets fitted with non rft's. depends if you want to look at it or drive it !
