I did it with an alloy on a previous car, doh! :oops:

I intially thought my stars were fine, but I've noticed marks on one of them. I don't think it's fallen over, but it certainly looks like the previous owner (or garage) certainly laid them facedown on a hard surface at some point :roll: hence needing a bit of tidying them up.

Got to say (sorry Phil) but I prefer the grey alloy centres against a silver Z4 than yours do against your gre Z4y. You've still got the honour of being the original though!

Hey - I'm with you - I have been an advocate of a different colour star on the 108 on a silver Zed for ages and encourage others to try something different. Personally I thing that silver on silver is too flat, but of course each to their own. At the end of the day we're talking about changing the centre colour of 4 rims so it's not like a car respray so you can change it back in a morning.
 
They look great nice work but as already said they would look nice with the rim in the same colour.

Re painting the inner wheel as said people do see so i would spray them not hand paint i think it would let down all your hard work you have done on the rest of the wheel.
 
Fitted 2 today. The results speak for themselves and I can honestly say they look great (as I hope you agree)!

Next question, how much are they worth!? Thought hard about this today and while I have enjoyed doing the project (and seeing the results) I really cannot keep both sets so will revert back to standard. Hopefully the above shows how easy it is (with the right tools, preparation and patience) to do a refurb and you will have a crack should they need doing! So thats it, all done with impressive results that really add the "roadster" feel of the car, just need to sell them now! :thumbsup:
 
They look much better on the car.

It's always hard to tell what they look like in a photo. To me they look fairly flat for a metallic, BUT, it is an overcast day, and any metallic looks flatter in pictures like that... my old cars anthracite wheels were the same, in pics they looked bland, in the sun on an evening they look fantastically deep and interesting!
In the skin is often the only way to really get how good they look, as we all know how standard silver looks, so know what to expect mentally before we even see pictures, but a darker metallic is harder to judge so you can only go on pics.

A very well done alloy re-work though, inspirational for when I get round to doing mine :D

for your car id say they would look even better with the rim coloured too. fancy doing my ellipsoids :wink: :wink:
