Yup. Although you have to push to get those numbers. I finish off a set of 30k miles tires in ~8k miles.Questioning whether 17k is good or not made me think of something I read about donkey's years ago was that apparently you can drive into a tire shop in the States and buy a 30/50/100,000 mile tire. I never quite grasped the mechanisms behind it (I don't think it was a warranty scheme) but I remember thinking that they must have all the grip of a soap covered banana on an ice rink.
To be honest though, grip isn't as big of an issue here as unmaintained cars.... unfortunately not uncommon to see a car missing at least 1 lug nut, engine ticking, random whines, non operating light(s), etc.
Those super high mileage tires are probably aimed at the person who thinks oil changes are a scam.
