16" wheels - tyre recommendations?

Hi,

The Bridgestones that my Z4 came with are going to need replacing shortly, does anyone have any recommendations for the 16" wheels?

Also, the Z4 doesn't seem to have much grip at all in the wet, is this a characteristic of the car or the runflat tyres?

Thanks!

JB

Speaking purely from my own experience, the Bridgestones will almost certainly be at the root of your problem. The grip I get out of my Goodyears allows me to pull uncomfortable G forces! Take a view on whether you want to continue with run flats, many members ditch them for normal tyres before they get ditched by them!

I did have a feeling the tyres would be the problem rather than the car itself!

I would be looking at Goodyear Eagle F1s except they don't seem to do them in the right size for the 16" wheels. Do I really need to look at bigger wheels? This could get expensive!

Some well known manufacture will offer 16 inch tyres and I'm 99% sure whatever brand you put on will dramatically improve your situation. Having said that don't put on no grip el cheapos!
Might be worth keeping an eye out on the forum because used wheels/tyres often come along and for not dissimilar money to what you might have paid for new tyres alone. Chances are you'll end up with bigger wheels which will be a bonus.

If I had 16" alloys I'd be looking for a set of second hand 18/19" alloys with decent tyres on already to replace those 16"s which for me personally don't look good.

I'd love a set of the 18" style 107 wheels - unfortunately the cost is too high right now.

Has anyone tried Dunlop SP Sport 01s on a Z4 with 16" wheels? They're available in the right size. They seemed OK on my girlfriend's old Rover Streetwise, but that's not really much of a comparison!

I paid £375 for my csl reps in good condition 19" with reasonably decent falken 452s.
imo they look better then elipsoids too
