Hi All
I need a little advice and guidance.
I was driving home yesterday and the battery warning light came on twice in about 5 miles, I drove home (10miles) and put a multi-meter on the car, it read just over 15v at idle on after a longish drive which seemed to high. I connected a small handheld car battery tester directly to the battery and it said the battery was good with a state of health 79%.
I assumed the high voltage output was a faulty alternator and replaced it today and the voltage is currently reading 15.3v at idle on a cold engine. Now im lost as what could be the problem, the cable & connector at the alternator look good as do all the battery connections. I use the car daily and it's not giving any other indicators, slow starting, won't hold a change etc and the battery is still testing good today. Im assuming that the voltage should be 14.8v or less at idle.
