135M Wheels, Shadow Chrome and Maldives Blue

No, I was just using that as a reference since I could find pics of cars with stock silver wheels to use for adjusting colours in GIMP.Hotride said:

The problem keeping them original is that it means spending another $560 just to have them looking very stock and kind of bland.
I can't believe how indecisive I'm being on this. I'm almost regretting buying the new wheels now for the simple reason that this is turning out to be such a painful decision to make! Maybe Hotride is correct and I should just go a shade darker from the OEM silver (which I had originally intended)...
I have to agree with Adamski 100%, reflects my feelings also! With that said, it's your car and if you like them a darker colour then go for it.Adamski said:IMO the darker colour gives them a permanent dirty look
They suit their original colour really well. Keep them original, but clean them regularly

My thoughts on painted wheels are they look bloody awful if damaged. Nobody wants to kerb a wheel, but a silver one shows less than a "coloured" one. If you put a decent wheel sealer on then the brake dust will wash off with a hose... Just sayin'

Why dont you have them done like this? hyper-graphite look fantastic. If i were to have mine done I would have them done like this.

Im not a huge fan of the 135M wheels, think they are just a bit long in the tooth now, but I think this colour could really set them off.
I know not the same wheels but here are mine in gunmetal grey

I dont think they look dirty all the time, but think they look ok. Changing mine for CSLs tho, in the future may go Hyper Graphite looks awesome.

We have the 103s in dingy medium grey as winter wheels and stock shiny 103s for summer.
On a black car.
The grey is truly dismal. I guess it shows the winter filth less but the car is not improved by them. Black (as above) would be much much smarter.

I really prefer the original colour. Here's mine on my Montego blue 2.5si.
I'm surprised about the love for black 135Ms, but I'm not sold they will work with Maldives blue. White and red yes, but blue I'm not sure.
Certainly the silver 135Ms look great on the Montego blue car posted by stevecbrz4, as they contrast nicely with the darker colour, whereas the lighter Maldives doesn't contrast as much.
I just called the wheel shop and asked for a price for shadow chrome and it comes it at $145 per wheel, which is only slightly more expensive than a plain colour, so this is now a real feasible option. The oly reason I was discounting it before was that I was under the impression it was much more expensive. The guy was really friendly and has recommended that I take one of the wheels over to show him and discuss what he thinks would be the best colour. I'll do that after lunch and report back

That M coupe Looks soo hot with the black roof and those wheels... 8)
I think A metallic colour might look good. Cant say I like Black for your car at all personally.

OK it's been decided! I'm going with Shadow Chrome/Hyper Black/Whatever else it's called. $145 per wheel including full refurb and balance. The guy from the wheel refurb shop was really helpful and understood what I was going for. He specialises in Euro wheels so has a pretty good idea of what's going to look good.
So I dropped all of the wheels off and they will be ready early next week. The excitement has returned and I'm looking forward to seeing the result!

Oh by the way, see in my later photoshopped picture the massive gap at the top of the front tyre. That's actually because the suspension strut hadn't fully compressed yet - once it settles the gap is far less and looks fine

Try changing to a brake that doesn't leave so much dust.
