10mm Spacers on the E89 (Pic)

For all those thinking about spacers. Here's how my Z4 now looks with 10mm Spacers. Pics don't do it justice. The stance is a hundred times better for what is essentially 2cm wider at the rear. Doesn't sound much but visually, in person, it looks night and day. Very pleased (and no rubbing whatsoever on stock).

Excellent news! Just for confirmation, what size wheels / tyres have you got on? 19" 9J ET29 with 255/30/R19? Also, have you got adaptive suspension (I understand this modifies the ride height).
 
I have:

- OEM 326 19" Alloy Wheels
- Michelin Pilot Sport 4's (Non-Runflat 255/30/19)
- M-Sport Suspension (Non-adaptive)
 
What brand did you go for? Also new bolts? I do like the look, but worried it will mess up the adaptive suspension on the iS.
 
Asked about spacers a few weeks ago and now you have the answer, most excellent :thumbsup:

I put 20mm on the rear of my Z3 and they also made a massive difference to the rear end stance.

When i get my run flats rid of 10mm will be ordered at the same time.

I fitted Eibach Pro-Spacers (10mm) with Grayston LB168 Bolts

I can swear it body rolls less but it might just be a placebo. It handles incredible already with the MPS4's and puts the power down well. The combination probably compliments the handling.
 
I notice you’ve had a remap. How much difference did it make over the standard 258BHP?

Tinker15 - Remap gave me 18 BHP. Some say it's not worth it. I say it "optimised" the car. No Black spots, CLEAN progressive power and a definite additional grunt to the exhaust. It also removed the take-off delay at roundabouts/junctions (worth it alone for that!)
Chris1712 - Normal Bolts are supplied with the spacers, locking bolts sold separately.
Stuart - not sure if I'm allowed to pop an external link on here or not but if you search "EIBACH Track widening Pro-Spacer - Track-Widening - PN S90-2-10-004", plenty vendors selling.

Here is a direct before and after from side on - lines them up with the arches nicely and makes your wheels look PHAT! (note - I haven't spaced the fronts - toying with the idea):

Interesting.... which remap did you go for.

Agreed on 10mm all round. You can get away with much more that the front, but then it looks odd. Rears scuffed with my 13mm setup.
 
I read a couple of posts about keeping the front wheels at the original wider distance than the rear ones for less understeering, so if you only applied spacers at the rear it may cause more understeering

any such experience?

I had 12mm spacers on the front, with eibach lowering springs and it made the stance perfect imo. It sat flush!
The rears also sat 12mm wider, but that was due to the wider alloys rather than spacers, looks great, especially with the factory camber dialled in.

Thanks for the information on your remapping. It’s something I’ll have to consider. I replaced my wheels recently going from 18inch to 19inch. No spacers though.

tintoverano - no under steer. If anything its planted the rear better and evened things out. I can throw it round corners no problem without worrying about the back end...again, this might be the MPS4's doing their job though.

sunnydays - Decided against lowering due to the terrible roads here in Edinburgh and the MASSIVE unnecessary speed bumps everywhere. Spacing was a good alternative.

Tinker15 - Do it, I remap all my cars. 18bhp maybe makes a notable difference on a car with around 100bhp but not so much on a car with over 250bhp. However it does tighten up the power band, smooth out dead spots and...well... its just super smooth power that pulls. With only an additional 21nm or torque, it wont blow your mind but it will make you smile when you open the throttle and fire through the gears with no hesitation or flat spots...and if you listen very carefully you'll get the odd exhaust burble and pop. Might I add, what a beautiful example of a Z4 you have. Don't be afraid to switch out those indicators. Will look sweet!
