108's Refurbishment!

Hello,

I bought my car back in February and on my list of things to do is get the wheels refurbished, they arent too bad but i want to look after them becuase they are my favourite style of wheels for the BMW Z4 and ones that caught my eye when i was a kid.

I live in Bishops Stortford near Harlow and want to know what my options are with regard to getting them fully refurbed and make them look like new and make them last also. Are there any specialist companys in the area?

Thanks Guys

One option is your local BMW dealer. If they have in-house painting facilities it will probably be the most convenient, ie, drop your car off and pick it up when wheel refurb done. Some other places people might recommend will at worse require you to remove the wheels yourself, put your car on axle stands (or spare wheels) and then ship the wheels off to be done.

Will be getting my fronts done in the coming months, and will be getting them done at my local dealer. May not be the cheapest but most convenient, yes, as they're a 5 min walk away and should the paint flake or peel I know they'll sort them out next time for free, with no hassles, rather than trying to deal with some company far away and with all the hassles of shipping the wheels back off to them again.

What sort of price am i looking at?

Also what is the life span for the 108's once refurbed in terms of the corrosion (i never curb it).

Have a look at this:

I had mine done just over a year ago now at http://www.pristinealloywheels.co.uk/

Full strip down, repair, re-turn and laquer of the lips with the inside painted not laquered and repainting of the inners.

It wasn't a cheap process but I'm happy to say that with no special care other than avoiding all kerbs! they are as good today as they were when I picked the car up :)

Hi,

Personally, BMW Dealership, too expensive and they have limited finishes they can do. Really expensive in fact compared to specialist places. You pay far too much of an hourly rate, don't bother.

I went to Wheel Genie in Huntingdon, they split the lot, have already experience of 108's and I can't fault them mate.

Here was my post about it.

and Wheel Genie Website http://www.wheelgenie.co.uk/

It took them 2 days to do, they also prepared the hub and calipers as well :) I went for Chrome Black :)

I think most Dealers don't carry out the work themselves anyway, they just get a local wheel guy to do the work for them :(

Got a quote from BMW in Peterborough it was close to £200 per wheel for splits. Unfortunately the hourly rate is the killer, plus if they send it to someone else, it's margin on margin, so price goes up.

Laughed and left the showroom, and they could only offer me factory finish, nothing more.

Mine was £100 per wheel in the end ex vat. Your not a million miles from Huntingdon so might be an option.

Best to surf and see what's out there.

I decided to paint my rims ready for my le mans trip. The lacquered alloy finished just isnt hard wearing enough for the miles i do. I refurbed the rims myself for the cost of materials £50  after 1000 miles still perfect
