108s refurb

Looking for any tips on how to best split these for refurbing. Before I rummage through the toolbox and find something not quite right, is there a specific tool for the rim bolts?

I'm going to soak the bolts with penetrating oil before I try anything.

I got the rims quite cheap but they look like they been painted with plastikote so could be gunged up, corroded etc

For when I get bored, can anyone recommend a wheel refurb place in the Warwickshire/Oxfordshire area.

I'm just in the middle of doing the same. You need an M8 triple-square (spline) bit.

I recently had my other set powder coated at City Wheel Refurbishment in Brum. They only charged £25 per wheel and did a decent job for the price, but if you are an absolute perfectionist, perhaps go elsewhere where they can take more time over each wheel.

wheels2.jpgwheels1.jpgif you are splitting them yourselves City Wheel Birmingham is who I used £35 per wheel if tyres are already on and £5 extra for special finishes. They can't put tyres back on unless the wheel is rebuilt, so two trips might be necessary.

I like that speckle in the grey Magicarcher.

p.s. Be quick if you want to avoid the "Clean Air" tax that Brum are introducing on 1 June.

The wheels are "chrome" rims a powdercoated bright appearance not dissimilar to the originals, but I hope more durable. The spokes are "black sparkle" so it cost an extra £10 per wheel. All in it was £180 a set. Waiting time is long though, two to three weeks. You can get same day for an extra £10 but there is a waiting list for that too.

Thanks all. Undecided on colour, so haven't got any further. My car's stratus grey, but OEM silver seems a bit safe, so two colours will be the way to go. I won't want the ditch finder run flats put back on. I'll chuck them on eBay

Fortunately my every day shed is still Caz compliant 😉 so I can get to Digbeth, as long as I can find it. Not been into Brum for years.

It's a bit of a nightmare to get to the workshops at the moment as they are building an HS2 terminal literally next door. You can only arrive from the south.
