Hi Guys, my 108 rims are looking sad :-( I'd like to get them refubished does anyone know where a good place to go is? some where not too far from Northampton???

Thanks
Dawn

They look pretty good actually.

Definately get the proper wet paint recondition though, not the powdercoating finish...

My 108's need doing too , so I'll be taking mine down to them for a refurb.

Post a price on the board please for tyres off, split rims, repair as required and full wet paint, lacquer and polish. I'm curious :)

ALSO, get a price just to have the whole lot sprayed as per the centres, not polished outers (this is what I'd likely have done :) )

Will do, I'm going to have the whole lot sprayed, not bothering with the polished outer, it's more trouble that it's worth.

With that last comment, it's not as safe as you might think, you still might get problems

This is one of my wheels, the paint has started to flake of the polished part of the rim. I believe the dealer done the refurb, I'm trying to get them replace the wheels under the warranty.

Hmm, that looks like paint ontop of the old clear coat...

If they take them back, rough up the surface and key to it with a decent primer, that shouldn't happen at all.

My 'reconditioned' current ones have kinda done that a little bit, and thats because they just did a single coat gloss ontop of a quickly cleaned down outer section (ie, cheap and nasty recon = failure)

:(

They offer an exchange service on certain rims so you dont have to be without wheels for a week, best to call them on: Telephone: 01908 282628 for details. Didnt have split rim's when i called but did have 18" ellipsiodal's. They will only deal with local agents so best to give them a call to find yours.

Does anybody mind sharing how much these refurbs cost? After nearly a year of careful driving I managed to curb one recently :headbang: .

Also any recomendations for somewhere in the south east that can do this well?

They ( Pristine) quoted me £ 152 + vat per rim for a full refurb with a re polished and laquered outer rim.takes a week to do. Not convinced I want to spend that on a re furb despite that fact that I think they'll do a great job. I'm investigating a firm in Leicester who did my Wife's MX5 alloys last year for £ 300 all in. I'll keep ypu all posted.

Marcus.

£152 + vat = £700 for four!

You can buy BRAND new ones for about £1000! (ok, lots more, but no waiting a week, and the old ones could be flogged for £250 even corroded I rekon!)

Makes no sense to spend more than about £100 inc vat if you can help it!

I have been getting quotes for £95/105 per wheel +vat, or just £60 if the centers are in good condition. Decided on doing it my self now

If you can split/polish them up (ie, have spare wheels to run in the mean time), then a good spray shop should laquer the insides for about £60 for all four for you imho.

Then just clean up your inners and re-attach.

I'll be splitting mine down, polishing up, then two pack chrome laquering the outer, then I'll have to see about the inners. Mine are very good, but not mint.

IF you can get them split up, tyres off and DIY, they are actually an easier alloy to work on really! Cleaning/prepping my 107's is proving to be hard work :D
