This set of 108’s and tyres were fitted on my E85 3.0i 2004 when I purchased it last Summer. I changed them after a couple of hundred miles for silver MV2’s, my personal preference. The 108's ran well, as far as I can tell no cracks or welds, all balanced. Presentable, but certainly not perfect – see photos.
A previous owner had these stripped and looking at the finish, I believe powder coated. I’ve included several photos of each wheel to show the condition, but frankly the surface preparation should have been better - especially when the then owner paid over £500 for the refurb - I have the invoice
In a few places surface defects weren’t sorted properly, just coated over. In particular I would draw your attention to the rim edge on ‘wheel no.4’ where there is a slight ‘kerb’, that’s the worst of it though. Some very minor gravel rash and a couple of small touch-ups – they were only on the car for less than a thousand miles after refurb.
The coating was applied over the assembled rims, clearly not separated and also over the titanium bolts too. I have heard of this being done and believe it’s to limit future corrosion issues. To be fair it’s neatly done and there is no corrosion – again see photos.
Overall, these wheels are certainly not perfect, but the coating is sound and they looked quite presentable, even fairly close up, on my Sterling Silver Z. Photo attached, the sale doesn’t include the car
Sale does include tyres as fitted:
2 x Potenza S001 225/40R18 Non runflat, nearly new
2 x Potenza RE50A 255/35R18 runflat
I believe that it was the intention of the previous owner to switch over to non runflats, but only got halfway there – not an ideal solution. The two new non-runflat front tyres that were fitted just before I purchased the car, have almost new tread depth. The invoice which came with the car shows that the pair cost £228 in November 2020 and they have only done about 300 miles.
Rears are older and showing some degradation. Very limited mileage on them though and have at least 6mm tread. Passed MOT last Summer. One is dated week 48, 2010. The other week 14, 2013. Frankly need changing to at least match the fronts.
I’m a realist and trying to honestly explain their condition, defects and all, so offered at just £185 the set of four as I need the room in my garage
Not interested in a swop, just need the space. They are sat here doing nothing, so another member will hopefully be able to put them to good use.
Collection from Cornwall, PL23 1EL or purchaser can organise at their cost collection and insurance in transit through Shipley/Paisley or similar. I have the boxes that my new wheels and tyres were sent in, so I’m happy to box them for carrier collection at purchaser’s risk.
