108's. Do I really need to split to refurb?

I went for OEM silver on the inners and a "chrome" type finish on the barrels, gives the appearance (almost) of a diamond cut, but is more hardwearing to the elements.
Mine cost £200 for the refurb, including removal and refitting of the tyres, and took 3 days.

I've always gone for this bright silver metalflake effect on my refurbs done by the geezer in Amsterdam.
I was sceptical at first but he convinced me to give it a go and I'm glad I did. Marmite to some but when they catch the light they look incredibubble. Thinking about going for the same paint on the 108's. Let me see if I can dig out a pic from some old wheels.....
On the 320...not the best pic i have but u can see how the flake catches the light possibly....marmite?

It’s xmas you not got much on b g it’s dirty not been cleaned top mark is a fitting rubber mark other is brake dust as that picture was straight after I had those tyres fitted going to enjoy the rest of my day now with my family hope you can too hey will post a pic soon over next couple of days :rofl: showing a nice clean 108

They are based in Gillingham they did a good job but if you do use them make sure you give them a once over its a very big operation so some mistakes are bound to happen they give you a 12 month warranty on all the processes they use so plenty of time to check them out when you remove the wheel at home mine as I said had a dry feel to the star on the offside front but they sorted it with no quibble I did later notice a small mark on the inside of the rim looks to me like someone may have handled them before the powder coat had dried they did offer to take them back and get it sorted but in the end I left it as its not something you walk up and notice plus I did not want to disturb the paint around the bolts I give them a 7 out 10 but I am fussy :lol:

i'd like 108's, but can't stomach the refurbishment cost.to be honest I was apprehensive at refurb cost then was advised by another member about city wheels in Birmingham and others had said they are good quality so for £100 I thought give them a go so I did and was highly impressed with there work even if they only last a couple of years or so with my wife kerbing ect :rofl: at a £100 it would not break the bank as I said will put a pic up of clean pic in couple of days and make your own mind up lots have seen these close up at zed fest and other places and we’re impressed with the work done merry Christmas palben g said:bz4kev said:

I've still got my spare set of 108s in the garage awaiting reassembly after powder coating at City Wheels in Birmingham. For reference, the standard price of refurbishing 2 piece rims there is £25 per wheel, but that's only in a limited range of standard colours. It's an extra £10 per wheel to have their 'chrome' finish on the outer rims to be a similar appearance to the original diamond cut rim, so the total cost was £140 for the set. The quality of the finish looks generally OK, but I've noticed some small rough feeling patches on the centres so beware that you get what you pay for!
