108s - bmw obligation?

Hi,

I've noticed that my 108s are starting to corrode badly again. I have had 2 of them replaced under warranty already. The car is still under warranty so i'll be paying the dealer a visit again shortly. :x

Any I within my rights to ask for a different design of wheel (similar value) under the sale of goods act?

Frankly i'm sick and tired of waiting for corrosion to appear (as it enevitably does!). I shall of course be mentioning that i'm planning to buy a new zed in October and that they should consider their response :wink:

Has anyone else pushed for a different (i.e. fully painted) design?

I had the same problem in my Celica many years back - the wheels corroded, and were very soft and buckled - each time the dealer replaced them... Eventually i said i was fed up and want a different design one - they refused but eventually we came to an agreement - the dealer got replacement wheels which they said they can sell privatly (on ebay no doubt) and they will give me the money they received (minus expenses) so i can buy some aftermarket ones, evetually i got £600 which covered the entire cost of some Oz alloys.

So i'd imagine its down to the dealers discretion.
 
Same here. All 4 108 wheels on my Zed were replaced under warranty last year (when the car was still under 3 years old). One of them now shows very minor corrosion on the outer rim. I had painted clear lacquer after cleaning it.

I did ask the dealer if it was possible to choose other wheels. But BMW UK could only replace 108 with 108. :( I like to have Performance 269.
 
On Z4um Jules had his 108s replaced with 135s before they were standard spec on the Sport, so it maybe depends on the dealer.
 
When i had my last z4 2.5 i had 2 sets of 108s replaced and eventually changed the style and the dealer had no problem with this whatsoever.
Stick to youre guns and let them away with nothing.
