108's and winter tyres (Unseasonal I know)

Hi,
I currently have 108's fitted on my Z which are a nightmare in the snow/ice, and I was looking to purchase some smaller rims and fit winter tyres, so that I don't have to use public transport in the winter.

I have now acquired a spare set of 108's which I am thinking about fitting with winter tyres.

Has anyone got any experience of winter tyres on 18 inch rims?
Would I be better off selling the spare 108's and getting smaller/narrower rims and winter tyres?

Any advise would be great.

Cheers.

I would get a smaller set. Not only will tyres be far cheaper but narrower will give you better grip in the snow. Just make sure they clear your brakes.

I run pneumant (German) winter tyres - very happy with them in the snow this year
A quick look on http://www.tyretest.com/pkw_winterreifen/pneumant/pn_150_wintec/index.html show they only go up to 17 wheel
I am sure you can get 18s but probably a bit more expensive, blizzaks etc

My thoughts and maybe even my actions this coming winter would be 17" rims with winter tyres. Put them on with the hardtop in late November and remove them towards the end of March.
