108 Wheels plus Front Lights. Refurb or No?

Hi guys,

Just moving house and I'm getting rid of some of the stuff I've taken off my Z4 over the years.

Is it worth refurbishing a set of staggered BBS 18" 108 Split Rims, and also the front lights?

Basically is it economic sense to refurb them myself (or pay someone in the case of the wheels) or should I just sell as is so the new buyer can do the job themselves?

Not looking for much for the wheels and no idea what the lights are worth. Plus, don't the lights need to be coded to the car?

Any advice welcome. Thanks in advance.

Paul.

it's a good question on the 108, I've chosen to have my set refurb before sale, time will tell if that is the right choice. Many places want a fortune or refuse to do split rims, so I think that puts buyers off. So my logic is if they are already done i've saved someone the hassle as I've got a good price to get them done. For me they are a classic wheel and refreshly done are my 1st choice on an E85/6.

Light don't need coding, it's just a bulb on the fogs.

I'd sell the wheels as they are, that way whoever buys them can decide what colour they want them. If you get them done your choice of colour might limit their appeal.

Makes sense. Thanks.

Thanks the input.

I dunno if that's right, my new lights needed to be configured to my mileage somehow. It was a chore for the guy who did it. I'm fairly sure these type of front lights aren't just plug and go.

I'm taking about the entire light assembly/unit, not just the bulbs.

I think there's some sort of module that needs to be coded?

Vehicle mileage is stored in the LCM, I think, which is basically the module behind the light switch to the right of the steering wheel. Just changing the headlight, fog light, any other light assembly won’t affect this.

Fair enough but Kev (top bloke) at BMW Wizard in Oswestry told me changing the fronts would trigger a milage tamper warning light on the dash, which it did... and he managed to fix.

I'm just saying that changing E85 front lights for the new looking eBay ones is not as simple as plug and play, and possibly vice versa.
