108 / 107 wheel swap / sale in northern ireland?

hi guys - just signed up, & this is my first post, so be gentle with me, especially if i get any technical details wrong!

always fancied a Z4 & have just bought my first, although i haven't even picked it up yet, an '04 2.5 SE (in maldives blue i believe).

from what i've learned by researching this forum for the last hour my car has 18" '108' 5 spoke wheels, but personally i much prefer the '107' ellipsoid design.

i know it's a long shot but just wanted to say if there's anyone in northern ireland (or maybe surrounding border area) reading this, who has the opposite opinion & would consider swapping their 107's for my 108's then please get in touch.

i'm happy to consider wheels for sale or swap, with or without tyres, even if they are in need of recon, just so long as they are genuine, sound & straight.

btw does anyone know if replica 107's can be bought, & also would anyone have any recommendations of what i could consider if i decide to purchase 19's?

there's a lot of expertise on this forum & i'm hoping to share your wisdom - thanx in advance, RV

Hi and welcome, you may get lucky and find someone who wants to do a swap, but a lot will depend on the condition of your 108's

Regarding replicas, not seen any 107's, lot of MV2 and MV3 reps around though.

Hi and welcome - check list in my signature as a quick guide of what to look for before handing over your dosh. As srhutch - never seen 107 reps best bet is on here or e bay.

I got a set of 107's from here http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/

They are new and genuine BMW, hence a bit expensive at about £800, but do look good on the car.

Hi and wellcome, you will get any info you need on this forum :)

Hi and welcome. I've just bought my Zed from over in Northern Ireland last week, there's some great roads over there :)

thanks for the welcome guys, and the advice so far.

as much as i want these ellipsoids, if i don't locate a swap and my only choice is to spend £800+, i'll go the whole way and stick 19's on.

the 108's need 2 tyres anyway so i can offset that cost saving against the new 19's.

there's a car currently for sale in NI with what seem to be M6 wheels on - looks great.

i wouldn't be surprised if the owner is on this forum - the link, if you want to have a look, is - http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/ni/cars_popup.jsp?nU=0&make=BMW&model=Z4&min_pr=&max_pr=&postcode=BT370WG&miles=60&max_records=200&modelexact=1&photo=1&hassearched=Y&start=3&distance=22&adcategory=CARS&channel=CARS&id=201017357875956

if that doesn't work just search autotrader for Z4's, up to £9k, with a postcode of BT12 6LR, - you'll find it ok.

anyway, i'm hoping this is my first Z4 of many - i've bought this one because it was in the right place at the right time, but ultimately i want to find a local 3.0 auto, in sterling grey, with short mileage.

therefore my current car will be pretty much for sale from as soon as i pick it up - i'll post pics etc when i can but just to give you a heads up it's an '04 2.5 SE, maldives blue, black leather, 108's, wind deflector, 60k, full bmw service history, asking price £9,790, would prob take £9,500 at a push.

feel free to let me know if you think i'm out of bed, as i haven't studied the prices on the forum yet.

lastly can i just repeat my earlier question, are there any specific 19'' alloys that forum members would particularly recommend?

i know it's all down to personal choice but i'm just asking which ones are popular amongst you guys - i want a bmw design obviously, to keep relatively true to the car.

cheers again, look forward to interacting with many of you over the coming years!

Maybe I'm missing something here but you have bought a Z4 2.5, havent picked it up yet but when you do you are putting it up for sale straight away.

Cant you pull out of the deal and just get the 3.0i

:)

you're not missing anything actually - bought it at the right money, pick it up in a week or so, know i can drive it for a month or two, and get most if not all of my money back on it - giving my company car back soon, after having one for 20 years, so needed wheels in a hurry.

intend to have a few more down the line, don't mind buying and selling the occasional one until i'm in the right car - all part of the fun.

i know chopping and changing cars is normally a good way to lose a load of money but i've enough trade contacts over here to work my way through a couple of Z4's without actually losing too much! (hopefully!)

ultimate aim of course is to end up with a really nice one, which i can cherish, and maybe mod a little.

was there a facelift took place somewhere around 06? i'd like to work up into a facelift car, and as i said ideally a 3.0 auto.

one other question actually, what exactly is the difference between a sport and an se, back in 04/05/06? anything obvious to look out for? presumably suspension for starters?

cheers

Face lift was 06, as it's easy to change indicators for clear ones, anf front lights fairly easily easiest way to tell is by looking at the rear lights, yes possiblt to change but requires new bumper and wiring mod so less likely.

Pre facelift no such thing as a sport just 3.0i SE or 3.0i, they are both the same just BMW dropped/added the SE at some point. (Cant remember which way round).

Non sport can have sport suspension and M Sport seats, you need to check the spec really as there is no hard and fast rule.

Hello RVZ4,

I live in Belfast. I have a set of 107 Ellipsoid in near perfect condition with tyres. Im considering selling them to finance a professional detailing of my 2.5 Zed. Are you still intersted in buying 107's. If so drop me an PM.

ordered the M6 19's today, & considering buying a reg number i can't afford.

sun's out, looking forward to getting the car.

where do i go for a stubby?
