I know a breaker that has a coupe of compete systems including the full loom for sale if you want his number.

I have the 10 speaker dsp system in mine and really rate it.

So you got ur amp fixed eventually then mike?

Tempted to whack another amp in mine in order to 'bi-amp' the system. Been bi-amping home systems for yonks with good results.
Will be dropping in some Focal drivers at some point and bi-amping should deliver the necessary oomph. Just researching power-draw and space requirements atm....

I have the DSP Carver system and I decided that the head unit was way out of date so I bought a new pioneer one with bluetooth, DAB, etc. I therefore had to buy a new amp as well as re-wire the whole system with crossovers. I went with the alpine one that everyone recommended. Long story short, the whole system sounds a lot better however the amp does feel when you crank it up that it's struggling and it starts to clip and then go dead if you go above 30 on the volume.

The amp was £500-£600 so buying another to bi-amp wouldn't make much sense as I normally run the system at 15 on normal roads and 25 on the motorway. I just wanted to know is what I'm doing atm safe or am I risking the speakers when I crank above 30?

For anyone fitting 6.5 sub speakers behind their seats I've just ordered two mountain msg plates direct from BMW for £27 for the pair slightly cheaper than two of these.whe you can pick the speakers up for £10- £15 each

TBH I wouldnt bother and go with something aftermarket.

One disappointment with the car was the 10 speaker system. Lacks base, trebble is high and middle is pretty poor too. Even if you set the DSP to your required level it still disappoints. The Bass reflex in my GFs clio is better. Says volumes.

all you need to do is get a pioneer or alpine head unit. get fascia and associated conversion leads.

then look at what will fit in cubby holes and in the current available positions.

IMO buying the old speakers and amp IMO is a waste of money as they are so expensive (the amp is as it's rare and in high demand). they also come with zero warranty.

just take it to your local specialist and tell them your budget. your looking at £1K minimum. i think i spent nearly £1.5K and i already had the 10 speaker system.

head unit £200
amp - £500
crossovers - £50
fascia and bits - £30
install and re-wiring - £500

i think it was compromised a lot because i was still using the old 10 speaker system. the subwoofers are annoyingly power hungry. they aren't worth buying or keeping at all IMO.

my system sounds great but i wish i had just started from scratch. would probably cost £2K but be totally worth it.
