Hi Folks,

I have just had my MV2 wheels refurbished and powder coated at Elite Wheel repairs in Leeds. I have to say I am very happy with their work, the wheels look superb and the customer service has been fantastic. The two partners seem like really nice guys who are both keen to chat. The total cost for refurb, powder coating, fitting tyres and balancing cost me £336 for the 4 including VAT, which I know is on the top side, but in my experience you get what you pay for! They also swopped off my summer wheels to put on the MV2's (getting ready for winter), I know this isn't much of a job for them, but it saved me doing it! Anyway I thought the guys seemed really genuine and were very keen to explain the process that they used when doing the wheels, they were obviously very proud of their work. I went for boring, standard, silver but they seem to be able to do anything you want with the colour. If you look at the pictures the 'M' badges are missing, they just hadn't come in yet, and they are going to stick them on when I go back in to pick up my summer wheels. They are also going to fix a slight curbing accident that I had on one of my diamond cut wheels, I think he said that was about £50 but I guess I'll find out for sure when I pick it up. I took a pic of the damage and if anyone is interested I'll post an picture after the repair so you can see what the job looks like.

Anyway I mentioned that there was always a lot of discussion on the forum about wheel refurbishment they have agreed, that as December is a quiet month for them, that if you mention the Z4 Forum they will knock 10% off their price. I was happy enough with their full price, but it if you are thinking about having your wheels done it might be worth waiting until December. Just talk to them first as some of the companies I talked to did a 24hr service and these guys didn't, they said that they prefer to do less and take longer to get the job right, so you might have to book them in.

Just to be clear, I know this sounds like I'm on commission or making something out of this, I'm not, just hopefully helping out fellow Forum Members with my experience and a bit of a discount.

I've posted some pictures, as a post is a bit boring without them, however I'm not sure how much they tell you! Any marks that you can see on the wheels were just dirt, I checked them carefully before they fitted them.

I hope this is helpful to someone.

Shaun

Disagree. I've been using The Wheel Specialist for years and to be stripped, repair small dings and kerbs then powder coated costs circ. £80/ wheel all day long.
My only criticism of your photos is that they didn't re-apply, fit new M decals.

I rang around a few places and the prices for a full refurb and powder coat and everywhere seemed to be roughly the same and this was about the going rate. The wheel specialist was within a few pounds possibly slightly below this price, it was a negligible difference though and so I went for convenience as these guys were closer. I did find a company that would do it for £240 but this was for pushing the tyre back and painting rather than a full acid strip and powder coat, a full powder coat job was £348 but I got the feeling this wasn't their thing. Bmw in Huddersfield were about the same price and they were only going to paint them. I'm sure you agree that you get what you pay for although I would be interested though in knowing (just for curiosity sake) where you can them done for less than £300?

They didn't want to put in the original stickers as they get damaged when removed. They ordered me some more and are going to fit them they just hadn't come in yet. Of course I could get them to post these on to me, but as I have to go back to pick up my diamond cut wheel that they are sorting, I'm going to let them do it for me and get them on straight!
