I get 11mpg from the VX220 and this is what I got from the Z4MR doing half fast laps and half drifting laps at an airfield day:

Mind you it would have been worse if I didn't have to brake so early due to OEM pads and standard brake fluid on Porsche 996 calipers front and rear.

The Z is a cracking car isn't it. If your planning on keeping it a while, you should think about investing in a LSD. Fitted one to my 3.0 and it transformed the car

I'm just curious, does an LSD have any real benefit if you aren't into doing lurid powerslides and not using it on track? Genuine question.

Even without doing power slides it gives you more traction out of a corner before you spin the inside wheel. I notice a massive difference between open diff and locking diff. Especially on cars that are front engined with more than 200 hp. Even good for cars with more than 150 hp in the wet.

Front or rear an LSD makes a huge difference to how much traction and control you have over the driven wheels. Used to have a Mk1 Mondeo si 24v had 167 ft ibls of torque and used to spin it's front wheels and eat tyres out of tight corners. At the same time I had an Fiat Copue 20vt. That had 230 ft lbs of torque and exactly the same size tyres and used to pull like a train out of tight corners. The crucial difference the FIAT had a LSD.

I used to have a Fiat Coupe 20V turbo with 230 lbs of torque, I agree, the Front Wheel drive LSD helped a lot.

I've had a DC2 ITR so I know what it feels like on a FWD car. The RWD Z4 already has much better for traction than any FWD car I've had even without the LSD, which is why I wondered...

It was good on my old JDM MX5 but there wasn't much grip from those skinny tyres!
