1 Series gear knob

Does anybody know........
Would the gear knob from a 1 series 180 M Sport fit on a 2007 Z4 roadster???
I am guessing YES, based on the theory (which i have made up in my head) that...
Why would a car manufacturer make different interchangeable parts between models and keep things standardized?
but im not prepared to stand by my loose theory, lol
Can anybody help??

(edit) I am only looking to change the knob part, not the gaiter and stick

I used that theory once and bought some LHD pedal covers for Z4 from Germany, they arrived and I found out BMW actually does different shape pedals for LHD cars! as you said I thought it would have been easier and more cost effective making them the same shape!

As Adamski said, maybe take a photo from underneath that we can see :)

I haven't bought the item yet, its on eBay
but if i know it will fit i can get one from a BMW Scrappy in Stevenage
 
Has anyone ever fitted another gear-knob to a Z4 from a different BMW?
Does anyone know if they are all Pull off fitment i.e straight swap?
I have found one on ebay and think it looks loads better then the Silvery plastic crap standard in my Z4.
 
I have one of those on my 1 series, if I can get it off in the morning without to much effort I'll let you know if it's the same.
 
Look at adverts for ZHP knobs on ebay and see if they list one series, three series and Zeds on the same advert and don't ask you to specify your car. If this is so, they're interchangable, so the OEM should be too.
I have a ZHP on my 320d that used to be on a Z4 - I know because I got it from here
