Just read in Autocar today about the 123d, so I did a google search and this came up.

The coupe is a bit fugly, but 135i (306bhp) :sweetheart: :sweetheart:

It is ugly. A frickin' chubby-ass, stubby version of the 3-series. Reminds me of that chubby Z2 in pics that were floating around.

I'm disappointed in BMW personally if this is the way they're going.

they want a small entry level car to get people into a BMW. I think this is a major reason that BMW bought and developed the MINI Cooper. Unfortunately the MINI community tends to stay in the MINI camp without upgrading (except for me and a few others). The 1-Series fits right into the niche between the MINI and the 3-Series.

the 135i will be a killer car. 300HP and much lighter than the 335. Expected to do 0-60 in 4.5 secs...won't be badged an M car but faster than the outgoing M3 and our beloved M roadster or coupe.

:worthless:
googled and found a couple of poor pics . anyone found a decent one

looks to me that this is the car the three series would have been if it had not put so much size/weight on

Is it a joke?

That is one ugly car. I usually have to laugh when I see any 1 series on the road.

The 3 door looks OK though, and I reckon the coupe will look better in the flesh than the initial pics suggest. At least with 306bhp they won't be able to laugh at you for long.

I think it is a really nice looking car. With the bi-turbo it should be a killer. Would make a great winter beater so you can park the Z and not feel like you are sacrificing. And it is reasonably priced. What is not to like?

How can anyone sit in that thing and not feel like they're sacrificing?

BMW did well with the Z3 Coupé. I dunno what happened with this one. I think the headlights is what bothers me the most. Too cartoonish looking IMHO.
