1 or 2 squeaks and rattles

Hi guys,

New to the zed club but unfortunately I have started to hear 1 or 2 squeaks and rattles from the car. I know it is 8 years old now but I want it to be perfect ☺, so much so I have just spent £100 on cleaning products for it!

1 - i think this is to do with the brakes. I can only hear it below 30 mph and it is mainly when I as pressing my brakes but sometimes can be when I'm not. It's not overly loud but loud enough to hear with the windows down. Any ideas?

2 - rattle on the door speaker. Rattles a bit when the speakers are on or off. Sound is not distorted at all but again it's still a bit annoying. Could this mean I need a new speaker? Would this be expensive to replace?

I ve got rattles from the plastic frame strut on the drivers side windscreen, Just jammed some foam down it...seems to have cured it, might work for your door speaker.

That's not a bad idea! How did you get it in? Is it easy to take the plastic surround of the speaker off?

Didn't take anything off, just jammed it in with an old plastic credit card.

Anyone any idea on number 1? I am pretty certain that I may just need to lubricate the back of the pad. Is this easy to do? What is the best stuff to use? Also if I wanted a garage to do the work then how much would they charge?

A thin dab of copperslip should suffice to damp down any rattling-it's usually done to combat squeal, easy half hour job.
