Rags, is that entirely accurate? I know that here in the US, you CAN have warranty work done by independents but you have to document to the nth degree.

100% accurate.

Manufacturers Warranty allows independant VAT registered garages to carry out work with genuine BMW approved parts - as per block exemption.

The BMW Extended warranty is an insurance policy which mandates main dealer servicing.

I've decided to go for the "save into an account" method. BMW customer care have already shown me their true colours, I'm not giving them any more cash.

I'm tempted to take out the named component with £250 excess for 12 months. Going to get the discs and pads sorted first.
