Choose one car under 80K pounds sterling or 100K usd. And tell us why :)
What car new or used would you choose?

I'm watching way too video on the Mercedes AMG GTS these days... I love the look and the 500 hp & the 15" Brembos! If it had a 3rd pedal I would sell my soul for it  Nice used models are showing up here for around 80K right now. Even with the the DCT I'll say I'm in.

The amg gt is a great choice 8)

I had a quick look on autotrader but the choice for manual cars is pretty slim. There no way I’d pay that kind of money for any lotus or tvr so you’re basically left with Porsche or Aston in the 2 seat world.

Predictably, I’d probably go for a 981 GT4 and spend the change on a shorter final drive, some warranty and track days.

Mind you, those V12 Vantages really are lovely things!

997 GT3 Manual. This lovely CS came up recently and sold for under £70k: https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2007-porsche-911-997-gt3-clubsport

Yes!!
Absolutely bang on sir! I literally had this exact auction in mind when I saw the title of this thread  no doubt such a boring choice for most but having driven a 997 rs it just hits the spot for me perfectly, and the non rs clubsport makes it a little more subtle and usable on the road - just the ticket

Does it have to be 1 car for your household? If so, I'd have to go with an RS6 or maybe something like an Alfa Stelvio QF.

Rare sight on the roads, looks good, decent size for a small family and still has that wow factor (in my eyes, anyway).

If its just a weekend type car for myself, I'd go for an R8, simply because I think they look fantastic and aren't too flash, so they don't stand out too much on the roads.

Hah, yeah such a lovely car. The fitted luggage has alpine pass binge written all over it too.

Must admit I did look up 991 non-RS manuals first. Could probably get half a crashed one for £80k...

If I could afford it then this. Just announced this week I believe. A quick and stylish way too take the dogs somewhere for a walk :D
Yours for £66500.00

Can I change my mind?!

I didn’t think you’d get a CS for that money but as you seemingly can, that’s gone to the top of the list.

Yeah 991s are cool but for me peak-911 was at the 997 - before all the chassis and electronic aids got too clever. Plus the 997 is usably smaller than the 991, and the gearshift is actually quite difficult to get right, which makes it all the more pleasing when you do slot a shift perfectly :P maybe I'm just wierd, but hits the spot perfectly for me, particularly in Cs guise!

I’ll have this one please...

Why, it’s a convertible Lambo, with a howling V10 and it’s orange, it’s practical too, there’s room for sandwiches, crisps and a spare pair of socks under the front bonnet !! It’s actually up for £83k, but they said when the nice Mr Scootr comes in to buy it for me they will let him have it for the £80k budget

Probably a Boxster GTS 4.0 in guards red.

I'm leaning towards this too now 718 GTS - But it seems I'm out of money... Thanks to misunderstanding with the Mr BBB

Easy solution there I’m sure [ref]Big Bad Boris[/ref], would be perfectly happy for you to give him your 30i since one’s proving very bloody elusive to him then you can go and buy your 718

F***ing cheek, look back a page there’s a vote for a Stelvio (an Alfa Qashqai) and also a vote for a green BMW hearse !! Sorry about the colour, but orange matches my lucky pants

If I had that budget for a fun car I'd buy this:- https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202006230441277?year-to=2020&advertising-location=at_cars&sort=relevance&make=VAUXHALL&radius=1501&model=LOTUS%20CARLTON&postcode=gu470za&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=New&page=1

And £5 change!

I've loved them ever since they were released, and the outrage they caused in the daily press just made me want one even more!

Proper hooligan car.
