1/4 mile?

one of the us guys did a really low 11 in his blown z4m, which then promptly broke various pieces of drivetrain.....

Low to mid 13 seconds is what you can expect, it's quick maybe not so much by today's standards, but quick enough.

I had a go at this at Santa Pod yesterday. Never been before and I went as a bit of laugh with an old mate who's just bought an M135i Auto. I did three runs in all, with mechanical sympathy at the forefront of my mind off the line, but even so I was rubbish getting the car away cleanly, and my reaction times were rubbish on the first two. My best 60ft time was 2.47s and my best 330ft was 6.23 so it shows you how slow I was getting away. Nevertheless, I did manage 13.8 at 106.92 mph which wasn't bad. My mate beat me on all three runs but it was all down to him getting away cleaner and the auto was a big advantage too. He did a 13.4 at 107mph. I was catching him up on 2 of the three runs though so if it had been a standing km or 1/2 mile I reckon I would've done him, even with the crap starts.

We saw what was reputedly the fastest road legal Nissan GTR in the UK record an 8.5 at 171mph and that was with him giving the heavily modded Civic he was up against a deliberate head start. It went off like a scolded cat, it was incredible. It must have been very low 2's to 60mph and probably high 3's or low 4's to 100mph.

I know Z4m generally get mid to high 13 secs - similar time as an Alpina Z4

The issue with Z4m - is the start getting power down - as the splits of Guvnor shows poor traction for the first 60 & 330 ft - as my E89 2Ltr achieved an quicker time :driving:

My Daily is a mapped TT RS, got my Z4M roadster on saturday I was surprised at how quick it felt ! Its doing fine by todays standards imo :driving:

Launching the TT RS is easy though, no problems getting the power down :)

This link gives a good idea of where the z4m sits amongst the other cars, I think it fairs well but it's not really a quarter mile car, it much more than that, and I can get some pretty awesome traction from the off, just need to find the right rev point which is about 3-3.2k, bring the clutch in let it find traction and dump it. It's a lot about feel which I love. I raced against a f458 who used launch and there was not really a major difference until late 2nd early 3rd gear where it left me. So there is traction available.

I managed a 13.2 with a passenger on standard contis in a standard car, I'd say high 12s is possible with new tyres

Fair play I don't know if I dare do it myself. Went to Bug Jam at Santa Pod this year and saw all sorts go down there. Interesting to see where the Z4M would have fit in.

As long as you launch carefully its perfectly fine, the main problem I find is the gear box oil cools down between the runs (if theres a big queue anyway) and with no way to warm it up first to second can be notchy as we all know...

My bike does it in 9.93 secs. All day long 8)

That used to be super quick but there were all manner of road-legal cars at Santa Pod last weekend going a lot quicker than that. (Mainly GTR'S). The bikes seem to struggle going much lower than that unless you've got some top-fuel type thing going on.

True. The bike is stock. It's just amazing how planted and undramatic it feels. To go quicker you need to start fuelling/ exhaust upgrades. Stock 0-180 in 20 secs will match most cars. Weight loss ( me and bike) is my direction. I've lost 22 lbs and am going carbon fibre to waste some money!

Did a run at santapod in june at 13.84, that included a poor reaction time of .923 and a crunched 3-4th gear change at the end when I thought I could make the line.

Interesting. From what I understand a standard ttrs is a real straight line weapon and a remapped one is properly quick.

I didn't buy my Z4MC for it's straight line performance capabilities but I am also surprised how quick it feels. My biker mate was impressed from the passenger seat the other day.

I ran 13.8s in my 220bhp 3.0i Z4 on 2 diferent tracks this year i would expect Z4M to be 12.8s with a good start. I beat a supercharged M3 in my z4 its all in the start and final top speed at the finish line. i was only hitting 96mph at finish you need to be over 105mph to be getting low 12s and 11s which S54 lump should be capable of. Id think the Z4M and 35si would have the best 1/4 mile Z4 times 11-12s with good launch and gear shifts.
