1.0 Corsa tried to race me ...

So, there I was in my new car (which I'm loving!!) and up pulls an old Corsa at the lights. It had typical boy racer exhausts and pretty sure I could hear an induction kit as he gave it the beans. His girlfriend (or sister) was sitting next to him. I smiled and nodded as though to say "very funny". He was very serious though and hammered it off the lights, I thought "cheeky b******" so floored it and sent him into oblivion and embarrassed him infront of his mrs lol.

I mean, what was he expecting? Maybe he just wanted to to see what it could do?

Don't get me wrong, I once owned cars like that and genuinely thought It was the faster car on the roads :)

Has anyone else had any cheeky encounters?

John

My favourite tactic is to engage in the grand prix looks, rev the engine and just as the other person pulls off like an idiot, pull off REALLY sedately. I think that is a bigger win than caning your car.

I agree with Jay,sometimes people need to be put in there place but at the same time it could be dangerous or lead to an accident.Claireysmurfs is the more sensible decision

I like racing motorbikes....never going to win, but they sometimes are shocked about how fast I take off.....

Great tactic. Often used. Frustrates them more to know that you're not trying and they look like a tool

Agreed! Had to be done just that once though :).

Most of the time I enjoy totally ignoring the other car and then pulling away normally while they disappear in a frenzied cloud of noise and tyre smoke. I figure that being totally ignored is going to hurt their pride more than anything else.

I recall once racing away from the lights to burn off a transit van who seemed to think he could beat the zed, cheeky booger. He couldn't of course. Don't know what planet he was on.

Long since grown out if this, I just don't see the point, its actually funnnier watching them disappear in smoke and then realising you weren't game for dangerous driving.

Just drop the roof, take it easy and listen to Frank Sinatra :D

I miss my noisy 1.0 corsa
Yes it was slow but it cornered way better than the z4 does imo.
Never useto try race people off the lights though. Totally pointless

I had a Corsa from 2008 to 2009, admittedly the VXR and traded it in for a 1 Series

The Recaro seats were lovely and so wanted to like it but was let down by poor build quality, well actually it was rubbish quality, pretty dissapointed as it looked great.

I reckon I could have you all in my Citroen.

Thats not a threat, its a warning! So be careful!!!

Bloody BMW drivers, think they own the road!! :fuelfire:

i find its daddy cool when im in the westy. i recon its cos the kid is usually pointing at the car and daddy needs to look cool but knows hes driving a man-hood-crusher.

there's a time and a place for everything nothing wrong with the odd blast (when safe too), let the needles hit the pin and carry on just dont make a habit of it. ...oh and make sure they dont catch up at the next lights cos you look like a right dong. :D

Confession time

I was once out dragged by a van!, in my boxster!! I just pulled away gently and he was hitting the redline by my side, I got to second gently by the time I realised it was a race and was well out of the torque band. Left me standing!

Once mind! Once!
